Bats 🦇 are the poster boys of Halloween but do you know how essential they are to the 🌎’s ecosystem? Aliya Jasmine recently joined bat researcher Miguel Ordeñana to learn about his work with bat echolocation around Los Angeles. (FYI - The Earth Tones team call him #BatMan 😉 ) He also leads the community science work on bats at the Natural History Museum of L.A. if you want to get involved be sure to follow NHMLA Community Science for more info.

Did you know? Not only do sunflowers 🌻 look like the sun, but their faces actually track the sun from sunrise to sunset all day, and physically move east to west. So if you see them facing you in the morning, then turn away from you later in the day, don’t take it personally - they’ve just found their light 😍☀️🥰 isn’t that just magical? It reminds me of this quote by Hans Christian Anderson:
“The whole world is a series of miracles, but we’re so used to them we call them ordinary things.” 🌻🖤
