Bats 🦇 are the poster boys of Halloween but do you know how essential they are to the 🌎’s ecosystem? Aliya Jasmine recently joined bat researcher Miguel Ordeñana to learn about his work with bat echolocation around Los Angeles. (FYI - The Earth Tones team call him 😉 ) He also leads the community science work on bats at the Natural History Museum of L.A. if you want to get involved be sure to follow NHMLA Community Science for more info.

Did you know? Not only do sunflowers 🌻 look like the sun, but their faces actually track the sun from sunrise to sunset all day, and physically move east to west. So if you see them facing you in the morning, then turn away from you later in the day, don’t take it personally - they’ve just found their light 😍☀️🥰 isn’t that just magical? It reminds me of this quote by Hans Christian Anderson:

“The whole world is a series of miracles, but we’re so used to them we call them ordinary things.” 🌻🖤

According to Harvard Health Publishing, Dog owners have lower blood pressure and healthier cholesterol levels, and a lower risk of heart disease, than non-owners. There are also many psychological benefits to having a pooch around. People who own dogs are less prone to bouts of loneliness, anxiety, and depression.

Aliya Jasmine pulled 6 G's while flying in this F18 while filming a TV Show for Discovery & AppleTV(✈️) And while the Blue Angels don't use G-Suits, they do use fuel. However, did you know that some airplanes can now be fueled by oil from things like: plants, nuts, forestry, and agricultural waste?! According to Jeanne Yu, a Senior Technologist, Nasa Aeronautics, airports in🇳🇴🇸🇪🇺🇲🇦🇺 regularly offer sustainable fuel. Sustainable Fuels, ie. made from many bio-based sources, are being developed all over the world.

Our fave part about photographing wild African Elephants was the way the back of their ears look like a forest root system, it’s so cool and cute. I just want to scratch them.

Did you know they are the world’s largest land animal? Was pretty incredible to be so close to this curious guy beast 😮 would you be chill this close? Happy
