PLEASE SHARE w LEADERS in HEALTH CARE :: In a bid for a poet laureate position, Emmy-winning poet Todd Boss seeks a healthcare industry partner to accelerate an emerging alternative therapy modality that turns client stories into meaningful poetry as demonstrated on his podcast There's a Poem in That (TAPIT). Poetry is powerful medicine. Todd envisions a future in which "clinical poets" across the world are serving individual clients with custom therapeutic services that give poetic meaning to their lives. TAPIT's free 808 number is ringing with strangers in need of such services, and every episode of TAPIT ends in revelatory tears that prove the concept. I'd be curious to know what you think. It's not like I'm reinventing poetry or anything, but I don't know anybody else who's doing what I'm doing, not at the level I'm doing it at: Soliciting total strangers to become muses, working with them intensively one-on-one for up to three hours of interview, and then writing something meant to surprise and delight us both. Am I foolish to think there's a big future in this where it interfaces with the health sector? A broad new channel for writers? A new clinic without walls? Too many people are contacting me still mopping tears. If you've listened to the show and you're a therapist or poet or social worker, I'd love to hear from you. I've been invited to the national conference of poetry therapists in April, and major poets have been lining up to be involved... It really feels like I'm on to something. For me, and for 15 years now, it's an immensely satisfying practice, putting my art directly at the service of others. I want everyone to have a piece of this extraordinary work.
