not all dogs bark the same, or even at all.
Basenjis, for example, are often called the “barkless dog.”
Instead of barking, they make a unique sound called a baroo — a mix between a yodel and a howl — because of the unique shape of their larynx
And then there are the “talkers.”
Breeds like Huskies, Malamutes, and Beagles have a wide vocal range and strong social instincts, which let them mimic pitch, tone, and even rhythm.
That’s why it sometimes sounds like they’re forming words.
They’re not really talking — but their vocal cords and breathing patterns can match human-like sounds. 🗣️🐕
Barking and “talking” are both examples of emotional expression.
Dogs bark because they can — and because it works.
They’ve learned that using their voice gets results — whether that’s dinner, playtime, or your undivided attention. 😂
