Job Title: Shelter Staff
Pay Rate: $17
8am-4pm Monday-Saturday FT/PT available
All Good Samaritan Shelter employees working in California are required by the California State Public Health Officer Order of July 26, 2021 to be fully vaccinated and up to date with a booster. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and booster is required or proof that you are in the process of becoming fully vaccinated and up to date with a booster. Staff will be required to test twice a week until fully vaccinated and up to date with a booster. Medical or sincerely held religious exemptions may be requested. All staff with an exemption must test twice weekly.
Wearing of face masks is required for all staff until further notice.
Job Summary:
The Emergency Shelter Staff Workers provide support and assistance in carrying out day to day operations of the Emergency Shelter by performing the following duties:
Responsibilities:
Β· Implements structure of Emergency Shelter program and services for day to day operations
Β· Prepares incident reports, client file documents, program attendance cards and data collection as necessary and maintains records of program related activities
Β· Interacts with adult clients
Β· Assists other Emergency Shelter staff in providing client services
Β· Fulfills other essential responsibilities and duties as may be assigned and/or required.
Β· Oversees client medications in accordance with agency and certification standards
Β· Attends meetings as directed in representation of the agency
Β· Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organizationβs policies and applicable laws.
Β· Assist with food preparation and distribution
Β· May perform observed drug testing
Β· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Β· High school diploma or equivalent.
Β· Be able and willing to work flexible hours which may include evenings or weekends
Β· Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training Provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
Β· Have reliable transportation and:
Β· A valid driverβs license
Β· The ability to qualify for Good Samaritan Shelter insurance coverage
Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
Tuberculosis Test Background Screening Drug Test
Work Environment
The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using alcohol and drugs, and who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health and safety practices. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the clientβs use of alcohol and drugs, and lack of personal hygiene. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting. Sometimes work may become stressful when working under pressure.
