Notes from the Shadowed City Expanded Edition by Jeffrey Alan Love is coming in early 2025!

We originally published this book in September 2016 and have sold through two printings. With this new printing, we wanted to do something special to celebrate its popularity. We have added a bonus section with commentary and sketches about how this book was created. This new printing will be released alongside the Jeff's new graphic novel, The Last Battle at the End of the World. We will launch a Kickstarter event in early 2025. Stay tuned for more details!

ElfQuest fans are uniquely wonderful. We have never received so many positive personal emails and private messages from supporters before. Usually when I see a message come in I wonder if a box went missing or if a book was damaged in transit. But nope, the message is glowing about the new ElfQuest Covers book and letting us know that their copy arrived.

To everyone who took the time to send us a pleasant message, thank you. Your encouragement makes our day better.

You see a lot of posts about our business, but what you don't see as often is our time bathing in nature. We didn't have to go far to see this coyote outside of our place in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Coyote, fox, deer, turkey, a variety of birds, lizards, frogs, snakes, scorpions, and scores of local flora all live in our shared communal space. It's quiet and peaceful up here.

Thanks so much to everyone who has placed a pre-order for the new Arthur Adams Preliminary Studies book!

As of this minute, 540 copies of the signed hardcover with jacket has been reserved. We printed 1000 copies of this edition.

The signed paperback (shown here) has 159 copies pre-ordered.

We're very grateful for your support and look forward to mailing you these books by January 2nd! As a reminder, Arthur's book has been printed and is en route to our Flesk warehouse.

What a day!

Yesterday we launched the pre-order event for Arthur Adams Preliminary Studies book on our Flesk website. We had 409 hardcovers and 108 paperback copies reserved on the first day. We printed 1000 of the hardcover with jacket.

At one point our website was hung up a little bit from all of the traffic!

The pictures along with this post show the hardcover with and without the jacket. Vicky designed this cover. Great job Vicky!
A few people overseas asked if we are offering this book through our distributor. The reason for this question is understandable. Shipping outside of the U.S. is crazy expensive!

At the moment I haven't made a decision about if we will make this book available to our distributor or not. (They are the ones who get the books into the stores worldwide.) If it does well for us direct and at events, and it looks like something that people will want in the broader market, we will offer it.

It's a bit of an experimental book. We're not too sure how many people want a book of preliminaries? The answers will come to me over the next few months. I know this isn't an answer, but it explains my thinking process.

We are very excited to announce that our new Arthur Adams Preliminary Studies book is now available for pre-order! As you all know, we are big fans of Arthur’s work. We started working on this book a few years ago and are thrilled to have it done, printed, and on its way to our Flesk warehouse.

We would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! We will be taking the next four days off from the Flesk office to catch up on some outdoor activities and visiting some friends. We won't be checking email or social media during this time. We're thankful for all of the nice things that have happened within our lives this year--and those of you who have been so kind to us. We hope you all have a wonderful break!

Space Pirate by Al Williamson

I'm a very happy guy to have had this wonderful little drawing by Al arrive in the mail yesterday. This piece came from the Roger Hill collection. There's a stamp on the back with Phil Seuling's name and address. Between Al, Roger and Phil there is a lot of history here.

I spoke with Mark Schultz who, according to his best recollection, noted that Al completed nine of the planned twenty Space Pirate drawings in the late sixties. Al brought these to shows to sell. The details are a little murky and if anyone can fill in the blanks--such as the exact year or an event where he brought these to--I'd appreciate it. It's an honor to be the current caretaker of this particular drawing.

Woo, boy! We have been going nonstop since early October. This energetic pace started when the Portfolio by Mark Schultz books arrived. We packed and shipped our pre-orders and distributor orders, then immediately got ready and traveled to the L.A. area to exhibit at Lightbox Expo. On our way home we visited with Bruce Timm to review his next three books together. Then, upon our arrival back at the office the ElfQuest Covers books arrived. We are about 99% caught up on our direct orders for this massive collection. We even managed to turn in the three upcoming books by Jeffrey Alan Love to the printer during this time period. The last six weeks have been a blur of activity.

Looking forward, the upcoming Arthur Adams Preliminary Studies book has been printed and is on its way to our warehouse. We will begin taking pre-orders for this book on December 3rd and ship mid-December when the books are here.

To close out the year, we will focus on finished the two new books by Tran Nguyen for the printer. This includes a new edition of Ambedo, along with a new art book collecting her studies. Tran and Jeff’s books will be released in 2025 to start the year off strong.

We look forward to sharing all of the details and revealing the covers for the Arthur Adams Preliminary Studies book on December 3rd!

We're putting the final touches on the new Tran Nguyen book, titled Spectres! This is an all new collection highlighting the painting studies by Tran. Sharing a painting by Daren Bader. An extraordinary piece by a more remarkable person!

Here is an excerpt that he wrote on his Instagram page shortly after its creation.

"Latest painting from last year’s Kenya photo ref. The thumbnail and sketch are old, but last night I finally dove in on the painting. Entire background is knife work, and I tried to do the cat the same but needed the control of a brush. Tried to keep it loose to match the knife application."

Acrylic on 14”x14” stretched canvas. Six hours.

ElfQuest Covers book Shipping Update!

As of today, we shipped Kickstarter rewards to 818 out of the 1191 backers who ordered a book. We have another 100 boxes already packed that will be labelled today and shipped tomorrow. We'll keep sending out tracking numbers as we mail more boxes. We won't stop until we are caught up.

This is the time when we begin to get messages to ask when their box will be shipped or if we missed them. I want to assure everyone that you are all equally important to us. If we need any additional information from you we will be in touch.

The first 300 copies of these beauties shipped today! As much as we enjoyed having them all in one place, we'll enjoy knowing they are in people's hands even more.

This is the deluxe signed edition of ElfQuest Covers. Only 500 copies were available to the public. This edition sold out in less than a day. We can't wait to hear from people once their copies arrive!

Who has the best signature in the business? We would nominate Mark Schultz as a contender! Here we have Schultz signing comics at Heroes Con last month.

Here it is, the first look a the actual Art of Rachel and Terry Dodson book! This collection has been printed and we were able to get a copy into Rachel and Terry's hands. They will be bringing an advance copy with them to Emerald City Comic Con for people to see in person at their artist alley table. This book is right on schedule to be shipped to all of you in May. There's just one week left to pledge to our Kickstarter campaign. All book backers receive a bonus set that includes a signed print, stickers, and bookmarks. We hope everyone who is going to ECCC has a wonderful time!
