Yesterday, Eliza Ivanova and her friend and colleague, Rachel, visited us here in Santa Cruz. Vicky and I consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to spend some quality time with these two outside of a show.
If you are not aware of Eliza's art, you will want to check out her Instagram page to be amazed. She is a unique and fascinating individual--someone who we greatly admire. We had a great day!

This format is the same size as the easy to carry and hold Manga books that we enjoy so much. And almost all pieces are shown at the original size.

As we enter a fresh work week, after a long holiday weekend, it's inspiring to look at that works by those who we greatly admire.
Virginie Ropars is incomparable. A unique and gentle soul who creates beautiful sculptures, such as the one shown here--Zebra Lobster II. Her works are entirely hand made and one of a kind. This piece was made in 2022 and is 75 cm (29.5 in.) tall.
VIRGINIE ROPARS - OFFICIAL is one of the five artists featured in our Lupente book. We are eager to focus on the second volume of our Flesk artist showcase, Lupente II, just as soon as time permits.

Jeffrey Alan Love news!
The new editions of Notes From the Shadowed City, The Thousand Demon Tree, and the all new book, The Last Battle at the End of the World, is coming in early 2025.
All three books will be coming with a bonus section that reveals how each book was made. "Notes" will come with a 32 page "Behind the Scenes" gallery. "Last Battle" will come with a 48 page gallery. We're working on the "Demon Tree" gallery now.
The original printing of "Notes" came out in September, 2016. Next year will mark nearly 10 years of working with Jeff. We couldn't be more pleased to continue to publish his unique and captivating stories.

It's day 4 of hanging out with Rachel and Terry Dodson. Last night they were kind enough to sign around 100 comics that we will make available for sale on our Flesk website in the future. We want to make signed comics available to those who are unable to travel to events.
We also have a bunch of comics signed by Arthur Adams. It will take us a little time to get everything listed. We'll let you know once these comics are ready.
Our initial plan is to offer these as raw comics. If you prefer raw or signature certified slabbed let us know in the comments.

The Cape and Cowl one day event in Berkeley last Sunday was packed with people. Terry and Rachel Dodson were swarmed all throughout the day. Here they are signing a copy of Wonder Woman for a fan. Is that Vicky and Mocha in the background?
Rachel and Terry are here in Santa Cruz. We are out hiking and enjoying some beach time along the coast. It's the perfect outdoor office as we discuss the next series of projects that we will be working on together.

The Mountain of Smoke by Jeffrey Alan Love is a collection of 51 paintings completed in acrylic, ink and pencil by Jeff. These works are reproduced directly from Jeff’s sketchbook, which took him seven months to complete. This 128 page book is available from Flesk.
Jeff's previous sold out books, The Thousand Demon Tree and Notes From the Shadowed City, along with his new graphic novel, The Last Battle at the End of the World, are coming soon from Flesk.

“Railroads” by Brynn Metheney. One of over 80 drawings and paintings included in Barren Lands from Flesk. Barren Lands is a humble love letter to the region, where the author and artist Brynn Metheney was born and raised.
"Along those dusty red railways in southern Arizona, a specter of despair and anger barrels across the desert landscape. Tangled limbs and eyes ablaze, it charges relentlessly along the metal and wooden scars that outline the Southwest. As it tears across the tracks, a booming roar can be heard, like thunder colliding with metal.
"Many ghosts walk along the old railways of the west; many were forced to perish in their creation.
"Those who have seen it left the encounter with little to no hearing left. It’s best not to wander those lonely rails, it may result in seeing the dreaded thing."

Water Witch by Allen Williams.
Allen has a series of beautiful prints available on his website, allenwilliamsstudio.com. Allen also shares insight into many of his works, including the following details for Water Witch.
"As I did this piece I kept seeing her walk dark underwater pathways, guided by her own light. She would see vague, hulking things swimming at the edges of her illumination and she knew that they were afraid of her. Afraid but enthralled by her.
"She was the queen of cold currents and black waters and she knew her kingdom well."

Arthur and Frank Cho will be at Baltimore Comic-Con in just over a month from now. We won't be set up this year since we are hanging back in California to focus on some family stuff (all good stuff, nothing bad). The guest list looks amazing and we always enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of the organizers and locals. We'll miss seeing people there.

We are moving right along with the production of our upcoming ElfQuest Covers book. Shown here is the beautiful cover by Wendy Pini for the large format 656-page paperback edition.
Here is an updated list of the various stages of production.
-The proofs have been approved and the book is on the press. We can't wait to see the advance copy!
-Wendy and Richard Pini have signed the signature pages for the limited deluxe edition. (This version is already sold out.) The printer will begin binding this bonus page into this special edition soon.
-All of the Kickstarter bonus items that include the bookmarks, bookplates, sticker, and bonus Rootless Ones print are made and here at our Flesk warehouse.
-The next step is for us to make the four luxurious 13 x 19" prints and send these to Richard and Wendy to sign.
-The last item is for us to make the Kickstarter bonus video showing Wendy drawing The Rootless Ones art.
We are very excited to begin shipping this book later this year! Like all books we work on, we put a tremendous amount of time and effort into each publication. We appreciate all of help and support as we work together to celebrate over 45 years of ElfQuest!

Terry Dodson let us know that he had his best year ever at San Diego Comic Con last week. Did you all see this recent Conan The Barbarian #12 cover by Jeffrey Alan Love? This issue came out in July from Titan Comics. The moody atmosphere that Jeff creates works perfectly for this cover art.
Speaking of Jeff, his next book from Flesk is done. The Last Battle at the End of the World by JAL will be coming later this year. We'll share the Kickstarter launch date once we are ready to reveal the details.

Here it is, the first look a the actual Art of Rachel and Terry Dodson book! This collection has been printed and we were able to get a copy into Rachel and Terry's hands. They will be bringing an advance copy with them to Emerald City Comic Con for people to see in person at their artist alley table. This book is right on schedule to be shipped to all of you in May. There's just one week left to pledge to our Kickstarter campaign. All book backers receive a bonus set that includes a signed print, stickers, and bookmarks. There is something satisfying in knowing that we are sending out these little presents all over the world and that people are enjoying Mark's latest book. We work hard on the creation of our books. We have a full crew here to pull the books out of the boxes, inspect each copy, line them up for Brad to sign and to bag and wrap them up for our pre-orders.
