A Spooky 'What's in the Box?' Adventure
SCVTV's Community Corner show hosts Carrie Lujan and Dave Caldwell embark on a very spooky, sensory adventure with a "Guess What's in the Box?" game. See if they guess all the scary things correctly--or if they get grossed out in the process!
As Bowman High School continues Fall classes, students now have a relaxing, communal area to decompress.
The new space offers several sitting areas along with shaded tables for students to enjoy. It also includes a small bulldog statue, a small fountain on a timer, an egg chair, a hammock, four planted trees with apples, apricots, peaches and plums, and benches and gardening containers.
Principal Nina Zamora was excited to present the space to students and parents on Back to School Night held on September 24th.
The William S. Hart Union High School District began construction on the now open wellness center the day school was let out for the Summer 2024 break.

The Pioneer Oil Refinery off of Pine Street in Newhall was built in 1877 by California Star Oil works – forming the foundation for the west coast oil industry. Benzene and kerosene were the main products made in the refinery, and were later sold locally in Ventura and Santa Barbara.
It was the first commercially successful oil refinery in the western United States and is believed to be the oldest existing refinery in the world. It even made its way into a film "High, Wide, and Handsome" back in 1937.
The refinery whimpered to a close between 1888 and 1890 as Standard's big, new Alameda refinery took off. The refinery was restored for historical purposes in 1930, the 1950s, and in 1976.
Two of the original boilers were transported to Chevron's refinery property in Richmond, California, where they were restored. The City of Santa Clarita is actively restoring the refinery as it prepares to open the site to the public as a city park.

On July 14, 1995, SCVTV Santa Clarita -- the Santa Clarita Valley's only television station and community media center -- opened its doors to our community for the first time.
From those days to now, SCVTV is still a hub to highlight our nonprofits, educators, creators, local government, and more, while also providing valuable hands-on experience to those entering the media industry. We take pride in being a beacon for the voices that contribute to the collective fabric of our community.
To another 29 years and more! #SCVTV29
