I don’t know what to say. The situation is catastrophic in Gaza, in Lebanon and here in the West Bank.

What’s happening now in the north of Gaza is unimaginable. Hundreds of people have been killed in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanun. No hospitals, no ambulances, no medics. The wounded bleed to death. Not enough food, not enough water. Apparently, Israel wants to cleanse all the north and evacuate it from all its inhabitants. This is in addition to the continuous bombardment on the other parts of the Gaza Strip and the inhumane situation there.

In the West Bank, the Israeli army has installed more checkpoints and roadblocks between cities, villages, refugee camps, and movement of the Palestinians become more and more difficult everyday. On daily basis, the Israeli army invades Palestinian places to assassinate people, arrest people, demolish houses, expropriate lands.. etc

There are now more than 9000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails from the West Bank, in addition to unknown number of prisoners from the Gaza Strip, estimated 10 thousand prisoners. The situation in prisons is unbearable with continuous and daily attacks, punishment, torture, lack of food, no medical care..

Here in Bethlehem, as you know, many people have lost their income because they depend on tourism. Some people were able to find alternative source of income, and many others still don’t have any income.

We just hope that this genocidal war would come to an end as soon as possible.

The situation in North Gaza is beyond the word catastrophic:
horror, massacres, extermination. People are shot on site as they even try to evacuate injured people, medical personnel are targeted, and hospitals are targeted. No food or water allowed. Israel simply rejected UN and humanitarian organization access. People are dying of injuries and thirst. It would be more merciful to drop a nuclear bomb on them. All to clear North Gaza for Zionist nefarious schemes to control its natural resources (and control the whole region). In some places, they simply rounded people up, forced the women and girls to the south and took men and boys (we remember mass executions like this in 1948 ethnic cleansing). In other cases, they simply sent robot explosives to clear neighborhoods or bombed people (men, women, children) from the air. How could we tell our children and grandchildren that we had a chance to stop this and did not? Please see the below small examples of what is happening and write letters,
stop the world to stop a genocide. Speak out, act now urgently.

The horror is beyond description.

What makes the death of David Daniels so clarifying for me is that we were born within a year of each other. David never joined social media, not even LinkedIn, but he may have more real friends than anyone I know.

After finishing his Master of Divinity at Yale, he earned his PhD at Union Theological Seminary and went on to ultimately become Professor of World Christianity at McCormick. He was the external reader for my own Master's thesis, and while I was exhausted and ready to move on from academia, he told me, "David, we need you to get your PhD." Then he connected me with Paul Gundani, Department Head of World Christianity at the University of South Africa, whom he had mentored 20 years earlier.

I learned much from him about pre-colonial Christianity in Africa.
