Today marks 13 years since you been gone. Been processing a lot of emotions this weekend, every year is a little different. Sometimes I laugh and smile cause of the good times we had, sometimes I cry cause I was only 17 when you passed so there’s so much that I wish you could’ve witnessed in person. This weekend was more sad than anything, I’ve just gotten better at hiding it. But the one thing that never changes despite how I may feel at certain moments, is how grateful I am to be your son. said it best, you bein at peace puts me at peace. I love you so much mom. Rest in Peace, Rest in Power, Rest in Paradise. 🕊️💙

12 years since you left for heaven. But today I don’t feel sad, I feel grateful. Grateful for the 17 years I had with you here on earth, cause I know it could’ve been even less. Grateful thatI never had to earn your love, it was always given, grateful for your love for God. I still have the blanket you gave me that says “They that wait up there Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 41:10) Every time I feel like giving up on anything I go back to that and I find the strength to keep going and you instilled that and so much more in me at a young age and I can’t thank you enough for that. My biggest black history hero will always be you. I love you more than words can express. Rest In Heaven mom, I’ll see you later. 💙🕊️
