SANFORD CONNECTION: Most of the sports fans know that Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees recently surpassed Roger Maris’ American League milestone of most home runs in a season.

Sanford’s very own Red Barber was the Yankees’ play-by-play announcer in 1961 when Maris set the record. It was his voice that made the historic call.
