"No Greater Love" (Veterans Memorial Park, Central Avenue, Sandusky, Oh)

Narrative: Gospel of John: Chapter 15: Verse 13

In honor of Veteran's day I thought I would share these. I took them back in 2022 but they still hold a historical significance. I have family members in the service and it always help me have a greater appreciation for their service. While I was here thinking about the fallen, this scripture kept coming to me. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Wise and true words!!

Autumn Daze {Episode 9} "SouthSide Reflection"
Location: (Buchanan St./ Pierce St., Sandusky, Oh)
Date: Saturday, October 26th, 2024

Narrative: As a youth I lived on the south side of Sandusky. The 1st image is of Pierce Street. In the early 90's, this was the street all the 6th-grade kids would walk down as we left Mills School. Largely because It was a spot for afternoon ....entertainment. From jumping in the piles of leaves in yards to running through leaves on the curbside, this was a fun place in the autumn. Images 2 & 3 are from Buchanan Street, where I lived. When I wasn't dribbling my basketball, I would ride my bike down towards Camp St. Pedaling as fast as I could, I would pretend I was the "Streethawk". (80's show reference) Humming the melody in my head, I would blaze down the street and come to a screeching halt at this corner. Anywho, the south side has always been a special place for me. Never realized how beautiful it was then, but I certainly do now.

Autumn Daze {Episode 8} "Autumn Cathedral"
Location: (St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, Oh)
Date: Saturday, October 19th, 2024

Narrative: Never realized we had so many trees in the downtown ish area. You kind of just drive by them but in the air it kind of gives you a newfound respect for them. Additionally, they are great at creating rhythm & unity in a composition. And those autumn colors are just so splendid. Those warm & green hues just create so much harmony within the background. But that's not that hard when you have such a beautiful house of worship as your central focus point. The suns rays cascading from the west just creates a perfect perspective for lights and shadows. Another Autumn day, another beautiful scene in Sandusky, Oh.

Autumn Daze {Episode 7} "18th Century Sisters"
Location: (1429 & 1433 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio)
Date: Saturday, November 2nd, 2024

As a teenager, I would often walk home from the Adams Jr. High building. Listening to my walkman, I would pass these two houses cautiously admiring the beauty and upkeep from afar. Now decades later, I wanted to relive some of those childhood memories. So on Saturday, I decided to go for a walk & after placing the AirPods in my ears, I gave a few head bobs, & I was taken back. The consistency and upkeep of these sister homes are to be praised. The 18th-century architecture just gives each home a Victorian feel. The Corinthian-style pillars strong and stalwart, have withstood winter's embrace for over a century. The lush green grass was so very appealing and looked freshly mowed. The porches and gables were my favorites as they were decorated quite well for the autumn season. Kudos to the owners of these beautiful homes.

"HalloWeek Ends" Cedar Point, 1 Cedar Point Drive, Sandusky, OH)

Narrative: Another year in the books as the Cedar Point season comes to a close, and the Hallo-Weekends ends. It has become somewhat of a tradition for me to sort of do my last walk through. As I entered and greeted the Cedar Point admission official, a big smile came over my face. I knew I was In for something special. Carefully placing the AirPods in my ears I went to work. It never gets old as the sights from this place are simply mesmerizing. The hues, the shadows, and aethetics were top notch. The implementation of fog was in full effect and it took a bit of getting used to for compositions, but It certainly added to the ambiance of the event. Any who, here are my parting shots, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did capturing them. Till then, see ya next year Cedar Point. ✌🏽📸

Autumn Daze {Episode 6} "Sapphire Skies"
Location: (Mills Creek Golf Course, 1933 Mills St. Sandusky, Ohio)
Date: Saturday, October 26th, 2024

Narrative: Walking around up and down the golf course is really a pleasure. So many different scenes and perspectives that you come across. My personal favorite being the sky. Vibrant solar rays permeating through the earth's atmosphere creates these gorgeous blue hues. Blue essentially being the shortest wavelength so we typically see it the most. And boy isn't it gorgeous. The sapphire hue just sets the perfect complement to those warm colored autumn leaves. Sprinkle some white textured cloud color in there for good measure and you have a recipe for some beautiful shots. Here are some parting shots I had from my visit a short while ago.

Autumn Daze {Episode 5} "Tiger Orange at the Park"
Location: Washington Park(Pavilion), 200 Washington St, Sandusky, Oh)
Date: Saturday, October 26th, 2024

Narrative: On a casual afternoon, you pull over to the side of Columbus Avenue. Taking a moment of peace, you watch all the Sandusky natives walk with their loved ones and pets alike. You get out and depart upon the park pathway. As you approach you notice seasonal changes have taken place. Each leaf of your favorite tree has been smothered in a tiger orange acrylic. The baby blue watercolors from the sky sets the perfect complement to the wide array or warm fall colors. As you approach it, you can hear the crunch of leaves as you take each step. You sit with your back to the tree bark, close your eyes, and take a deep breath as you realize Autumn is here.

Autumn Days {Episode 4} "Smiling Sunrise"
Location: Milan Road overpass, Sandusky, Oh

Narrative: It's 7:00am & you finish getting ready for the day. You grab your keys, and head out the door. The morning chill hits you as you step outside, you get inside your vehicle, & head towards your workplace. After a few minutes you travel down the Milan Rd. overpass and something catches your eye. A bright beautiful sunrise in the background of a local concrete mill. A smile comes across your face, and you realize today is going to be a beautiful day.

Autumn Dayz: {Episode 3} "Autumn at the Creek"
Location: 48th St. & Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Oh
Date: Saturday, October 26th 2024

Narrative: Blue skies on a sunny Saturday afternoon are my type of afternoon. On the side of town and just figured I would swing by. A really fun time watching all the golfers zoom around in their golf carts getting their last sessions in before the winter. As for me, golf really wasn't my thing. Couldn't really get the golf balls airborne. However there is something that I could get airborne. About 150 meters approximately. Summer was always my favorite time of the year, but it really has some competition now as the fall is really growing on me.

"Ball of Flame" (Redux) Cedar Point, 1 Cedar Point Dr. Sandusky, Oh)

Narrative: With warmth and glorious radiance, this ball of flame sends its soothing solar rays to a small blue celestial body in a relatively unremarkable galaxy. Who knew that this nuclear fusion at 93 million miles would illuminate the troposphere providing the essential processes for photosynthesis & life. Through which, millions of strangers from all across the globe come together during this special season to enjoy these brief moments of thrills & excitement. I happened to be one of these strangers over lake Erie capturing these moments. These were some of the left overs from my Sun-Sational time at America's roller coast. Hope you enjoy!

Autumn Dayz: {Episode 2} "Princeton Orange Shores, Sandusky Blue Islands"
Location: 48th St. & Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Oh
Date: Saturday, October 19th 2024

Narrative: Years ago, I told myself I wanted a home on 42nd st. someday. The homes were always so nice on that street. So everyday as I come down the neighboring streets, I am reminded of those words. On Saturday, I swung by and saw this lovely tree. I parked on Columbus Avenue and walked up the sidewalk. I was simply amazed at it’s glory. The Princeton Orange shade is a vibrant and energetic shade of orange. It exudes warmth and excitement, and that’s the vibe I got here. The Sandusky monument I just adored. That chiseled stone was just so rigid & each letter was etched to perfection. And each letter of Sandusky with its pure white contrasted so well with the blue background. This is truly a glorious part of town, and autumn just makes it that much better. "The Walls of Carnegie" (Sandusky Library, 114 W. Adams St., Sandusky, Oh)

Back in the 90's nearly every kid from Adams Jr. High would stop by this place. It always was one of the coolest spots to go to. I often would get a running start from the bottom of the staircase and leap several steps at a time to see how quickly I could reach the summit. Now over 3 decades later, I much more cautiously navigate the elevations of this staircase. I don’t quite feel as invulnerable as I did in my youth. However, my fondness for this place is one thing that hasn’t changed… especially after hours. The night scene with its bevy of accent lights, and darkened shadows is reminiscent of a medieval movie. The towering doors, strong and dense like those of a castle gate. The stoic and solidified brick wall create what looks like an impenetrable defense to would be intruders. The small housing at the tops of its walls are the perfect location for an archer to take out an outsider. It's mighty pillars providing the hardened foundation to withstand the test of time. And finally the title.... CARNEGIE!....The name of a proud and formidable castle fortress..., or Library at least. 😉

Autumn Dayz: {Episode 1} "Cobalt-Colored Beauty"
Location: 531 Wayne St., Sandusky, Oh
Date: Saturday, October 19th 2024

Insight: Oh, how I love Wayne st. As a youth I would jog down this street and just be smitten with the look of these buildings. So as I drove down this street this past weekend I was curious to see how this street looked. And boy was it beautiful. This particular home especially. I took a photo earlier in the year, but the autumn really brings out this buildings beauty. The burgundy brick color with the fall foliage just looks gorgeous. The lush green tall blades of grass just set the perfect sense of depth, and perspective. I'm not sure what these building functions as now, but if nothing else it hold some aesthetic value for me. "WITCHery in Motion" (Sandusky Witches' Walk~ Mylander Pavilion, 223 W. Shoreline Drive, Sandusky, Oh)

KLV Insight: Witch...a woman who is believed to have magical powers used in the natural world. While I don't exactly believe in witches, the magic was certainly on display Friday night. Upon my arrival at Jackson Street Pier, there was a beautiful young lady performing her magic upon every unsuspecting patron in her vicinity. I had to get closer. Her movements upon the pole were so mesmerizing I had to be sure she was an actual person. Charming, and talented she swayed back and forth like a hypnotist performing hypnosis. To accompany her, there was what looked like a mage who was quite the performer in his own right. With his mage staff and stilts he moved around keeping the crowd entertained and attentive. Quite an interesting night for magic in the one and only Sandusky, oh.

"Northern Destiny" (Marblehead Lighthouse StatePark, 110 Lighthouse Drive, Marblehead, Oh)

KLV Insight: Ever believe in intuition? Me? Meh...sometimes. I guess it's a matter of perspective. Sometimes you just get lucky, or perhaps it's destiny. I had planned a trip to marblehead just to capture some photos. After walking around for a spell, something told me to stick around. And boy was I glad I did. It's something about the sounds of the waves crashing upon the rocks that just sounds so splendid here. The heavenly rays were out and about in rare form. The moon was simply gorgeous and I just love the view from across the lake, even though my hand was a little shaky in the long exposure. lol Anywho, here are some of the other shots I captured while I was up there.

"Heavenly Rays" (Marblehead State Lighthouse Park, 110 Lighthouse Drive, Marblehead, Oh)

KLV Insight: Somewhere 93 million miles away a CME (Corona Mass Ejection) collided with the earths magnetic field and the amalgamation of the two is this lovely array of colors. To the natural eye, you probably saw some dark cloudy skies, but with some technology we can see the beyond. The Eternal Artist's majesty was lain bare with his palette of Heavenly colors and divine decorative arrangements. The stars ware like a pointillist dream with its sparkles adding texture and amazing detail. The vibrant hues brushing across the sky like cascading water colors created the perfect atmosphere for the surreal. With the central focus being a luminous lighthouse, you have the perfect scene to keep his remarkably sophisticated creatures in awe at his signs and glorious wonders. What a time to be alive!!
