Santa Barbara County Fire Dept Captain Dave Zaniboni is reporting an oil and gas line spill/rupture this morning in SLO County. An oil pipeline has broken in New Cuyama as of 7:06AM. A call came in for a gas and oil line broken at Russell Ranch - 8702 Highway 166 - this is on the Russell Lease, Plant 9. Confirmed this was a gas/oil/water mix - 3" line as well as a crude oil 4" pipeline. Both lines have been shut down. Initial reports of product reaching the river bed is not true - the spill is contained. At this time they are trying to assertain the quantity. According to Capt Zaniboni this is in San Luis Obispo County, approximately 50 miles East of Highway 101. CALFIRE SLO HazMat unit is enroute to take command of the scene.
