We're renting out our Garden Suite and almost exclusive use of our beautiful Broadmoor district home in San Leandro.
A great living place in the middle of nature! Our Garden Suite!
We are looking for someone, who loves nature to move into our garden suite and house. The rent includes a full brand new (dedicated for this person) bathroom (Euro-shower), all utilities, wi-fi, internet, cable with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO. A very quiet ductless heater-A/C system is in all the rooms.
The bedroom (slightly less than 12' x 15') has its own cable television, a tempurpedic style queen mattress, and a door and window right on the garden.
The room and house is furnished, but there is always opportunity for you to move in whatever you want to, within reason.
It has its own entrance from the garden, as well as a entrance through the house.
It also includes sole* use of most of the house. The newly remodeled kitchen, huge garden with three great sitting areas (lit beautifully at night), a great room, lovely garden porch with seating-dining, a small front porch, and all other common areas.
Beautiful views of the garden and nearby hills out of all the windows.
We just installed a new large Swedish washer-dryer, a new dishwasher, and one new refrigerator (the 2nd refrigerator is in the garage).
*(except when I am in town for work, and I am going to try to spend my time in the cottage or in my room. This should only be for 7-10 days and until I become established).
The Avant Garden (demonstration garden) sits on a 8100 ft2 lot and contains over 100 rare and unusual species of long blooming, pollinator attracting plants. There are over 20 plants that produce culinary items and food. Lots of plants for cut flowers. Lots of hummingbirds and butterflies.
A very quiet, super cute older neighborhood and very quiet location.
The house is a 7 minute walk, 3 minute drive to the Bancroft-Dutton Business district. With Paradisio, and several great eateries. Tophatters and Taste of the Himalayas is a 4 minute drive in the other direction. Three minutes away, a Kneaded Bakery just opened on weekends and the baked goods are amazing! Safeway, Ace hardware, and other businesses are also on this corner.
Though only three minutes to get onto 580. There are parks right nearby, and it's a great neighborhood for walking. Great neighbors!
7 minutes to Lake Chabot, Chabot ridge, San Leandro BART, and Bayfair.
We have a Ring doorbell system and motion activated security lights in the front.
A brief description of the other housemate. Our wonderful Hungarian friend is a caterer-hermit and only uses his upstairs room, upstairs bathroom, and the washer dryer. He does not use any other rooms and does not eat at home. He leaves at 6AM and gets home at 9pm, and goes right to his room. He usually leaves the house all day on his days off. He is very dependable and trustworthy.
I'll be back for about 10 days a month, until I get established in Columbus, but will be working out of our cottage, sleeping in my upstairs bedroom and using the upstairs bathroom.
We are expecting to have our new housemate move into the house in sometime after the middle of August. We are only looking for a single person. Of course, that person's guests and houseguests are always welcome.
The rent is $1325 a month, with a $1325 deposit, refundable with interest when you move out. (the included utilities average about $175 /month, so the actual rent minus utilities is ~$1150).
Available for move on March 15th. If you need to move in on the 1st, let me know, and we'll try to make that work for you.
