Went on a solo vacation to hike and explore Kaua'i, Hawaii. This was my first hike. During my research, I fell in love with this pine forest. I had to see it for myself. October 2023 The trail began with a tunnel of trees, leading to a grove of Norfolk and Cook Pines. It’s a steady incline up to the top, but there will be some clearings with scenic views and a picnic table underneath a shelter to rest. Towards the end, it’s a steep rocky climb to the top. At one point, I was on my hands and feet, but it was manageable. Matanuska Glacier, Alaska August 2023 You can view Matanuska Glacier from the Glenn Highway, but if you want to get closer and walk on the glacier, you need to go on a guided tour. From Anchorage, it’s about a 2+ hour scenic drive along the Glenn Highway. We went with @matanuskaglacier They provided us with crampons and a helmet to safely explore the ice. It was a great tour. South Fork Falls (Barbara Falls), Alaska August 2023 Easy hike to view this beautiful waterfall. Trail has two parts. One goes to an overlook and the other goes to the base of the falls.
