After releasing a number of chart-topping digital tracks from some of your favorite DJs, we’re bringing old-school into the future by p
ressing vinyl again in that San Francisco/Chicago deep house way that always gets you moving. Along with our awesome plans for a vinyl revamp, we’re sending five new releases your way over the next couple of months. We are thrilled to be reprinting some of our favorite original releases with one-of-a-kind San Francisco-based artwork. We can't wait to get these rare releases to you the way they were meant to be played and heard: on vinyl. Panhandle Records is the brainchild of some of the City’s favorite DJs: Jonny Phelps (DJ Jonene), Tasho Nicolopulos, and Eliga Mayhew. The trio started the label in 1997 in San Francisco as a way to support local and upcoming DJs. At its highpoint in 2004, Panhandle was home to up and coming artists from around the world with 15 vinyl releases. Around that time, Jonny decided it was time to make a new home for house music in Austin, Texas. After taking some time to travel, explore the world, and fine tune his craft, Jonny has listened to Panhandle fans pleas to bring the music back! Now is the ideal time to begin supporting local DJs again with this new, electrifying version of Panhandle Records. Panhandle is delighted to welcome Texas native DJ/Producer John Pridgen and David, DJ Spoon, Gauthier into the Panhandle fold. Already this incredible talent pool has released a number of digital tracks, but it’s time friends. It’s time to dust off those turntables and get back to our roots: vinyl and San Francisco house music (with a little bit of Austin flavor dusted in for good measure)! Sounds like home to us!
