Back in 1998 we started off with one book and an idea. While many big publishers were abandoning the world of film history, afraid to take a chance on smaller titles that might not reach mass market sales, and uncertain of the future book business with the burgeoning digital web content and coming ebook market, we saw it as an opportunity. With focus on small press runs, print on demand, and digital books, we published our first book, Curse of the Silver Screen in 1999. We then added a series of print on demand "Trivia Challenges" like The Bates Motel Trivia Challenge, The Supremes Trivia Challenge, The Elvis Trivia Challenge, and The Gilligan's Island Trivia Challenge. In 2000, our next book, Disaster in the Sky, gave us a chance to test print on demand for books.
While we had successful and less-than-successful ventures, we learned a lot and every success gave us a chance to build and expand our model. In 2004 we delivered Reel Horror in print and ebook, as well as on audio. In 2008 we on-demand published Irwin Allen: The Disaster Years and Disaster on Film. In 2010 Alfred Hitchcock: The Icon Years was released in print, ebook and our first enhanced ebook, and earned our first book award for best non-fiction title in a readers favorites competition. In 2012 our biggest hit What Ever Happened to Mommie Dearest was released. In 2014 Who Nuked the Duke? won the San Francisco Book Festival for best general non-fiction, and in 2016 our book Movie Star & the Mobster was named best general non-fiction in the New York, Hollywood, and London Book Festivals. In 2017 we released Meet the Munsters and Back to the Big Valley and in 2018 we published The Lost Hitchcocks.
