ARK Invest has begun an 'amendment-athon' for Bitcoin ETFs before the deadline.

ARK Invest and 21Shares have submitted their final S-1 modifications for their proposed spot Bitcoin ETF, ahead of the SEC's December 29 deadline. The SEC officials met with representatives of at least seven corporations on December 21, setting a deadline for applicants to complete their final S-1 modifications by December 29. ARK Invest submitted an update to the S-1 registration statement for its Ark 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) on December 28, focusing on permitted participants. Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said no updated Bitcoin ETF applications had been received, and additional modified S-1 filings are likely in the next day.

ARK Invest and 21Shares were the first to submit their spot Bitcoin ETF filing update ahead of the SEC's Dec. 29 deadline.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin believes that the blockchain's "cypherpunk" goal, which was once envisioned, has been overlooked due to its over-financialization in 2017. Buterin wants to see "cypherpunk" ideals like decentralization, open participation, censorship resistance, and genuine neutrality return to the future. He is optimistic that non-financial applications may thrive on the blockchain. However, Buterin warns against building centralized layers or NFT ecosystems that do not follow these values, as this could risk losing the unique value of the crypto ecosystem. He advises against overburdening the Ethereum consensus layer and suggests making the proof-of-stake chain lighter and simpler by lowering the number of signatures validators must make.
