Nga, Nga is Betel chewing prevalant in the Cordillera mountains in the North to the Muslim communities in the South.

For centuries, in many rural and upland areas, Filipinos have been chewing betel quid or "nganga" as a way of staying warm and alert, and is known to have a narcotic and even euphoric effect. In other words, nakaka-high. It's also an indigenous breath freshener because scientists believe it kills bacteria in the mouth.

I was personally tempted to try it but with 6 hour's remaining to my destination, I didn't want to risk any stomach issues along the way, but I will check it out soon.

Finally, hit a Binondo Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, my phone died to take more 📸 but I can share that the beef fried rice & ho fan ( we call it chow fun) was off the hook Hella Sarap!

NOTE: Longer content available on YouTube soon, but I'd like to share that the Philippines Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in the world, established in 1594 by the Spaniards as a settlement near Intramuros across the Pasig River for the Catholic Chinese. How cool is that bit of history?
