Happy Birthday Cayley!
Happy 6th Birthday to my Summer Solstice baby Cayley!! We are so proud of her and have loved watching her grow and develop into such a bright, creative and inquisitive human being.
In the BLINK of an eye, she went from fitting into the palm of my hand to a brave young lady who chose to read to all her kindergarten friends during her class birthday party. Wishing Cayley a happy, healthy and wonderful year ahead.
#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! I’m currently working on a new keynote talk and I found this fun selfie video from a presentation I did last year to 4000+ live attendees and 30,000+ virtual viewers. I get asked all the time, “Don’t you get nervous speaking?". My answer is NO but that's also because I'm a Professional Speaker. It's what I get paid to do. Most people avoid public speaking at all costs whether it's in front of a camera or in front of a live audience, even though speaking is one of the most effective forms of marketing! As a Speaker and Marketer, my goal is for my community and clients to continue growing their business effectively and efficiently, so here are 3 tips to help you the next time you have to speak. 1. PRACTICE! If you're giving a presentation of any kind make sure you have your talk outlined, if not fully written out. Having it on paper is not enough though. You need to PRACTICE! Better yet, record yourself practicing, then watch your recording to see how you can improve. Any time I give a new keynote, I practice the entire talk at least 3x!, 2. PAUSE! When a speaker uses filler words like Uh, Uhm and Like, it looks unprofessional. It makes both the speaker and audience nervous. Next time you are practicing a talk and you find yourself using a filler, do your best to PAUSE. If you can do this during practice, you'll be more likely to do this during the live talk., 3. Imagine everyone in their underwear...just kidding this is an old saying but the concept is kind of true. When you're speaking, imagine that you're talking to a group of friends! You would not be as nervous if you felt comfortable with everyone. The audience is there to connect with you. They won't throw stones if you make a mistake, they will know that you're human and trust that in the end, it will be ok no matter how you think you did.
THAT'S A WRAP! I recently filmed a new LinkedIn Learning course in studio (my last 3 were recorded from home due to the pandemic). I often get asked how to become an Instructor. Here are some tips!: 1. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Anyone can apply to be an Instructor. If you have an idea for a course, I encourage you to scour their library to find out what programs are already out there related to your topic. Your course idea will be dismissed if you don't do your research and submit something that's already available, 2. BE ACTIVE ON LINKEDIN! It absolutely helps if you have a fully updated and optimized LinkedIn profile. If helps even more if you post consistently on LinkedIn. They love instructors who can help promote their platform. Need assistance with this? Reach out to me!, 3. CONNECT WITH INSTRUCTORS! Connect with people who are already teaching on LinkedIn. They can help you network and sync up with the right contacts at LinkedIn. You can do this by taking their courses yourself! Participate in the course Q&A. Post your learning certificates to your profile. The more active you are with your own learning, the better you'll be at creating your own course. Also keep in mind to network before you need your network! To celebrate wrapping up another course, I am opening up my courses for free access again! #TestimonialTuesday “Why should I keep posting if no one sees my posts?”. I get this question quite a bit from my marketing clients. The truth is, when you’re consistently posting, people DO SEE your posts! They may not always interact or comment but that is just the nature of a business post. The value comes from your own consistency to put yourself and your business out there regularly. You will stay top of mind when it’s time to buy.

#TESTIMONIALTUESDAY One of the biggest compliments people can give me after watching my presentations is letting me know that they are able to connect with my teachings. If there is a connection, there forward movement toward helping others grow their business. Here are a few things I do as a Keynote Speaker to add value to my audience and strengthen my connections with them. 1. I share real authentic challenges and mistakes I’ve made. 2. I provide easy to execute ideas that aren’t overwhelming so people can start taking action immediately. 3. I make it easy for people to contact and reach out to me even when I’m off stage so they see me as a peer and person who’s working hard just like they are. I definitely feel grateful for being able to purse a career that allows me to speak and teach about topics I’m an expert in and love!
#TESTIMONIALTUESDAY! One reason I encourage all of my Marketing Melodie clients to create a document to save all positive feedback is because it allows you to create content that highlights your amazing work! Here are places where I gather content to create my testimonial images like this one I am sharing now: 1. @Google Reviews, 2. @Facebook reviews, 3. Reviews for courses I have created on @linkedinlearning, 4. @LinkedIn recommendations, 5. Written praise I get on emails, 6. Verbal praise I get (I will ask the person if I can use what they said in a testimonial). If you’d like more insight on how to create a marketing campaign that highlights your positive reviews, check out my LinkedIn Learning course, Content Marketing: Online Reviews in Social Media where I walk you step by step through the process of making your business stand out with online reviews.
