On Thursday, September 26, ARRIVED™ San Diego held a Balboa Park Concierge Event that was a non-stop day of adventure. The group started off with breakfast at ARTIFACT at Mingei to fuel up on coffee and delicious pastries to power through the day. The group strolled over to Mingei International Museum where they got a personalized tour of its newest exhibit, Blue Gold. From there, the group walked over to Fleet Science Center where they got to turn back the clocks and play like kids again in the Pause|Play exhibit. Next up was the San Diego Natural History Museum where guests got a sneak peak of their Below Grade fossil exhibit which officially opens in 2025! Next, was a visit to the Spanish Village Art Center to see artists in action and an opportunity to peruse various studios filled with personalized, one-of-a-kind works of art. Concierges were pleasantly surprised to be one of the first groups to visit the renovated Botanic Building that will officially reopen later this year. The iconic landmark building was an exciting treat to see the renovations in progress. Guests then got a break at The Prado Restaurant with a hosted a luncheon. The charming restaurant served delicious salads, cookies and beverages. Following lunch, the group made a quick stop at the Balboa Park Visitors Center, operated by Forever Balboa Park, where they got to see its headquarters and learn more about what they do there (which also includes tours of Balboa Park!). Forever Balboa Park also provided two tour guides for the concierge adventure who provided insightful information along the way. Next was a quick stop at MOPA@SDMA where guests learned about Prix Pictet Human and got a quick peak at the beautiful Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theater. Over at the San Diego Museum of Art the group got a personalized tour of its new exhibit, Wonders of Creation: Art, Science, and Innovation in the Islamic World, that explores intersections of art and science (and one you truly need to see in person). The final visit of the day was at the San Diego Air & Space Museum where guests had time to explore on their own or have one of the docents guide them before gathering on the Museum’s patio for an afternoon happy hour to wrap up the fun-filled day. The Air & Space Museum hosted a lovely spread by Crown Point Catering while the group enjoyed hearing from Balboa Park Explorer—learning about passes to visit all the locations and more. The adventure concluded with raffle prizes and swag bags to remember the day!

On Tuesday, August 13, the San Diego Concierge Association held an affiliate mixer at Mystique Dining of La Jolla—a magic dinner theater experience in the heart of La Jolla Village. The Mystique Dining team provided a warm welcome with cocktails in the bar lounge before a butler escorted the group into the private Grand Dining Chamber, an ornately themed room for up to 30 guests. Once seated, guests enjoyed an upscale 5-course dinner with main course options that included a roasted prime rib and a bourbon glazed airline chicken that were cooked to perfection by Executive Chef Johnny Hornibrook. Following dinner service some of the world’s best magician entertained the group with an impressive magic show.

On Monday, June 10, the San Diego Concierge Association organized a volunteer event for its concierge members and affiliates in partnership with The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. The group, along with a handful of other volunteers, sorted, packaged and boxed more than 11,500 pounds of produce. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with members while also giving back to the community. The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the North County Food Bank chapter comprise the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 44 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 400,000 people per month in San Diego County.

On Tuesday, June 4, the San Diego Concierge Association held an affiliate mixer at Vincenzo Cucina & Lounge in the heart of Little Italy where managers Alfredo Piraino and Fabrizio Donato welcomed the group in for a tasting experience. Vincenzo’s boasts San Diego’s only dedicated Cheese Wheel Bar featuring six cheese wheel varieties along with an al fresco Aperol Spritz Bar. Concierges and guests were invited to sample both along with a handful of other delicious menu items.

On Wednesday, May 22, San Diego Tourism Authority celebrated National Travel & Tourism Week with a beachside party at Belmont Park in Mission Beach. More than 500 hospitality partners turned out to celebrate the industry's critical role in powering the nation's economy, communities, and connections. Festivities included food, drinks, rides and entertainment. Tourism is the second largest segment of San Diego’s economy and employs approximately 214,000 people. In 2023, San Diego welcomed 31.8 million visitors, which led to $14.3 billion in visitor spending across hotels, renowned cultural institutions, world-class attractions, small businesses, restaurants, and bars. San Diego ranks as the nation’s fifth largest county and continues to remain a top tourism destination in the state.

On Thursday, May 16, 2024 ARRIVED™ San Diego partnered with the Maritime Museum for a fun night out on the water! Concierges and their guests were welcomed aboard the "Berkeley" and coordinated into groups to receive abbreviated tours of Maritime Museum’s vessel collection and current exhibits by the Museum’s knowledgeable docents. The highlight of the tours was getting an opportunity to set sail aboard the historic 1914 "Pilot" boat on the San Diego Bay. After their adventure on the water the group was welcomed back to "Berkeley's" beautiful upper deck where a reception awaited. LOLA 55 and Lotus Thai catered a delicious buffet of tacos, curry and flower cups. Knotty Brewing served up their locally brewed beer and Maritime Museum poured wine and soft drinks. In addition to hearing from all of the generous sponsors, JD Smith from San Diego Symphony also joined the event to share news about San Diego Symphony’s upcoming summer concert series at The Rady Shell at Jacob’s Park!

On Monday, April 29th the San Diego Concierge Association held an affiliate mixer at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse located in North Embarcadero anchoring the InterContinental San Diego Hotel. Concierges and affiliate members were welcomed at Del Frisco’s with their specialty cocktail, “The VIP,” made with 360 Mandarin Orange Vodka and pineapple and treated to several delectable hors d’oeuvres including Del Frisco’s jumbo lump crab cakes, Wagyu meatballs and more. SDCA President, Lee Ann Kinkelaar, and Del Frisco’s Sales & Event Manager, Eden Bach, addressed the group and gave insight about the upscale steak and seafood restaurant. Bach then led guests on a tour of the stunning two-level restaurant featuring towering wine displays, private dining rooms, striking chandeliers and views of the San Diego Bay.
