In our city, many nonprofits in town provide services to fight generations of financial disparity and discrimination led by Redlining. In this government-endorsed practice, maps color-coded neighborhoods based on race, effectively dictating who could access housing loans. Communities marked in red, predominantly non-white neighborhoods, were deemed "risky" for lenders.
With this in mind, Texas A&M University-San Antonio approached us last year with the idea of creating a short documentary about the history of redlining in our city. Our 6-month project led us through the heartbeats and backstreets of San Antonio, unearthing stories of resilience, displacement, and transformation. It became more than just a film; it was a profound journey of appreciation for the indomitable spirit of this city's residents. Dive into this narrative and join us as we unpack the lasting impact of redlining on our community and, most importantly, the unwavering hope for a brighter, more inclusive future. 10 years, countless stories, and over $40 million raised for nonprofits across South Central Texas. As we gear up for the 10th anniversary of the Big Give, a 24-hour giving marathon on September 20th, we are reminded of the incredible power of collective goodwill.
Do you ever wonder what life would be without the unsung heroes of the nonprofit world? The Nonprofit Council and Key Ideas have come together to produce "The Influencer: A Day Without Nonprofits," a film that delves deep into that very thought. Unraveling a world where the nonprofit workforce, larger than our national airline industry, could vanish.
This short film challenges us to recognize the magnitude of this sector's daily change. Let's cherish, support, and double our impact during #BigGive2023. Here's to a decade of giving and to the undying spirit of nonprofits. #ADayWithoutNonprofits

As September marks the Big Give month, we spotlight pioneers like disABILITYsa, who tirelessly work towards creating an inclusive San Antonio. Stepping into the hallways of Texas A&M University-San Antonio is a testament to perseverance and tenacity for many. But for Jesse, these hallways symbolize not just an educational journey but also a life that has braved Iraq's battlefields and been honored with a Purple Heart. His story, rife with challenges and triumphs, epitomizes the very essence of the Dream Maker Scholarship – an initiative that champions the educational aspirations of students, turning dreams into tangible realities.
The Dream Maker Scholarship and Award Ceremony has been a beacon of hope, annually spotlighting and financially supporting those determined souls at A&M-San Antonio. The ceremonial celebration isn't merely an event but a tribute to those who've significantly impacted the education and lives of students at A&M-San Antonio.
Behind the scenes, ensuring that these dreams are actualized is the unwavering support of the A&M-San Antonio Foundation’s Board of Directors. Established in 2010, the Dream Maker Society is a testament to their dedication. With champions from various sectors joining, this annual celebration has become the Foundation’s hallmark fundraising event. Over $3 million has been raised in philanthropic support, and more than 6,700 scholarships were awarded, paving the way for students like Jesse.

From the hallways echoing with history at the former Horace Mann Junior High School to the state-of-the-art classrooms encouraging innovative thinking, every corner of YWLA has a story to tell. We're deeply honored to have been entrusted with capturing this narrative. We can't wait for you to witness how YWLA is cultivating the leaders of tomorrow.

This is CompassionateUSA, an extensive (and 8-month-long) project done in collaboration with the Alamo Colleges District and the City of San Antonio, which uses the transformative power of storytelling to promote personal growth, healing, and a more compassionate society.
We've poured our heart and soul into every frame, from concept to creation, including designing the logo and website and producing six deeply engaging video lessons. Each one centers around a major life skill in the journey towards compassion, brought to life by experts in each field.
Filmed in a Volume with an extensive LED wall, we have transported our host to different locations, making each narrative a vibrant and immersive experience.
CompassionateUSA was officially launched in June when @ronnirenberg presented it to mayors nationwide as a free resource for their communities.
This has been a meaningful journey for us at Key Ideas, and we are honored to work on projects that have a lasting positive impact. We believe every person and every story matters, and we are privileged to share these narratives through film.
Check one of the videos here, and watch all six at compasionateusa.org. Let's all make a difference through the power of storytelling. We welcome you to join us in this healing, growth, and compassion journey.
Our 2019 video for the Erin Popovich Endowment was a cherished project - one that unfolded stories of strength, resilience, and unwavering support for those battling Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD). At a gala where this video was shown, an incredible $1.4 million was raised, creating a beacon of hope for those living with ILD.
It's heartening to know that the silent battles fought by Erin Popovich inspire an endowment that extends helping hands to those who need it most. Her spirit of compassion reverberates in every effort made towards enabling a more hopeful and fulfilling life for ILD patients.
Here's to the visionaries, Greg and Jill Popovich, whose commitment to honor Erin’s legacy is truly creating a difference. Thank you for letting us be part of this journey of hope. We invite everyone to support this noble cause - because together, we can ensure a breath of relief for many.
