Forgot to include the comet in our last post. Every night, as we sat on the balcony, it was there just streaking in the most non dramatic way.

Maholo Oahu! After months of chaos, we caught a flight over and quickly dove into relaxation. Hung out on he beach, walked around the nature preserve, and watched the sky change colors from the balcony. Talked with locals and listened to their stories. Witnessed a hula on the beach while a family let gow of their loved one. As we watched, the tears fell. Releasing the hurt and loss making way for love and honor.

We can't thank our friends enough for opening your hearts to us. Your friendship will always be extra special.

Only picture taken from our relaxation and reset evening. It is wonderful what an evening of fine dining , good company, and lovely soul hugs can do for a body. It's always a beautiful time when come into town. Little did they know they are soul savers filling our empty cups. Thank you for the laughs, debates, and memories. We cherish you both so very much.

"Just set a date!"
Love you guys

Here we are... catching a'lil borealus last night. We just happen to walk out and look up. Saw a light pink streak and snapped a night mode photo. We stood looking up, watching for any changes. Comparing photos and chatting the night away with two of our kids. Pretty neat to see it in our own latitude, but it does stoke the adventure flame to search them out somewhere amazing.

Hiraya happily swaying on anchor in La Paz. We've been busy reprovisioning and eating all the fish tacos we can. We walked around the city today in search of a new solar panel and tried to pick up our water maker. Knowing full well that both may or may not be open today due to it being Constitution day.

Both businesses were closed, so we opted instead for icecream and dinner on the Malecon. In that order. Now, we will finish the sunset and tuck in for the night. We wish everyone a relaxing and peaceful night.

I mean....it's just a pretty morning here swinging on the ball.

Wishing everyone back home can enjoy their fluffy white snow after they get dug out. I truly mean that. There is something to be said for the moment when the skies clear and the sun shines over Utah after a good snow storm. Until we can experience that again, we will soak in the rays and be greatful.

Lovely morning run towards Puerto Escondido Marina. Although we say our favorite place is the North Sea, this area was home base for what seemed like a long time while we fixed our engine. We return here now for a few more repairs, NOT engine related. Soon, we will be on the waves again, but for now, we will enjoy the familiar area.

And we're off! Leaving Puerto Penasco on Wednesday, we made a 255 mile dash down to Santa Rosalia. What better way to test out your new rigging then to fly? At least, that's what it felt sometimes. Overall, stats are 255 miles traveled, average speed 5 knots, Max speed 11 knots, motored 6.5 hours, and sailed the other 44.5 hours.

The trip was fast and relatively smooth. Hiraya felt dialed in. This is the longest sail we have done at one time. Felt a little daunting before we began. We even had plans to duck into a number of anchorages if we wanted. But as soon as we left the dock and found open water, our attitudes were instantly adjusted, and we continued on.

We would have kept going, but we just couldn't pass up our favorite city. We arrived in Santa Rosalia to the greetings of the staff that remembered us from the last time we were here. After lots of hugs and greetings, we settled in for a lovely full meal and precious still sleep.

It's getting bitter sweet as we travel south. We have really loved our time in the Sea. We are in search of more adventures further south and beyond.

Today was the 3rd and 4th trip up the mast as we continued changing out the standing rigging. All those stainless steel cables holding our mast in place. We haven't found any more, really bad corroded parts, but it really only takes one failure to get yourself into trouble. We will continue on the next couple days so that we can hopefully catch the weather window we have been eyeing.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. May you be safe, healthy, and happy!

The splash went perfectly, thanks to the guys at Cabrales Boatyard, but the work hasn't ended. Just one more project before we can leave Penasco.

Rigging. It's a good thing to check regularly. We thought ours was ok but planned to change it out while we were here just to be safe. When Sam pulled the first cotter pin at the mast head it snapped and dang near disintegrated. Glad we brought many extras to replace them. It's a little terrifying knowing that the only thing holding your stay in place was that rusty old cotter pin. Just another reminder how corrosive the environment can be out here in the wild!

Throwback Thursday

It was only a few weeks ago we were wandering the desert island Angel Lagardia waiting for our window to make the final push North to Penasco. It was hot, the bees were nuts, and the chubascos were starting to make an appearance. We spent our days wandering up the hills looking out at the Sea. Over all it was peaceful although there was a bit of melancholy in the air knowing we soon would be returning to land.

Little did I know that the sea would call to me just as the mountains do back home. We are home now. Nestled in near the Uinta mountains. Where the smell of pine and earth fill our senses. I was suprised the first time I heard the sound of the breeze rustling the Aspen leaves that I intuitivly turned my cheek to the wind measuring it waiting for change. A split second later I remembered I am on land.
