Elder Bird, who slipped into a coma several weeks ago after a sudden medical emergency, said this week that the experience left him with an enduring sense of spiritual reassurance.

“There were angels watching over me,” he recalled in an interview. “One of them was my aunt, who is already on the other side of the veil. Her unmistakable voice came to me and told me everything would be alright.”

As paramedics worked to stabilize him, Elder Bird said his missionary companion offered a priesthood blessing. Later, he received another from his mission president.
“Miracles keep happening today,” he said. “And it is by faith that they become reality.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated advanced medical equipment to the Clinical Hospital Dr. Manuel Quintela in Montevideo, Uruguay, enabling the hospital to perform more than 4,400 specialized medical studies. Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles reaffirmed that artificial intelligence will not be used to prepare general conference talks, emphasizing that divine revelation and personal spiritual effort cannot be replaced by technology. Speaking at the “Organized Intelligence” conference in Salt Lake City, he noted that while AI can support administrative work and education, it cannot enter into covenantal relationships or provide spiritual guidance. Church leaders also stressed that any AI-generated content must be clearly labeled and must not misrepresent the nature of God or the authority of church leaders.

JUST IN: A negligence lawsuit in Wyoming has been filed against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, alleging the Church failed to implement proper safety measures during a 2022 youth boating activity where a 12-year-old boy’s foot was severed by a towline. According to the complaint, the accident occurred when a Young Women leader suddenly accelerated a boat while the boy was “feeding out the rope,” causing the line to wrap around his foot and resulting in an amputation and multiple surgeries since. The lawsuit claims the Church did not adequately train leaders, allowed unprepared individuals to oversee the activity, and is liable for the leader’s actions; the plaintiffs, including the boy and his brother, are seeking damages and requesting a jury trial.
