The Hate U Give is a groundbreaking, thought-provoking debut novel inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, about a teen girl who is the only witness to her friend’s fatal shooting by a police officer. This is an important work that everyone should read.

Morning all! Today we are in Provo giving out "The Complete Maus: A Survivor's Tale" by Art Spiegelman. This Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir was called “the most affecting and successful narrative ever done about the Holocaust." It has been removed from classrooms for “its unnecessary use of profanity and nudity and its depiction of violence and su***de." This amounts to covering up history.

The dictionaries and encyclopedias are being reviewed based on state legislation that says schools may not have books that depict or describe "sexual conduct" or are "inappropriate."

Happy New Year friends!!! Be safe in the snow! We're in South Salt Lake, Utah giving out Harriet the Spy. Which was banned because the Harriet was deemed too rebellious. It is a great series and is now a TV show on Apple TV!
