"Wh — who is this?" Madison stuttered, her eyes brimming with tears. The old lady's eyes followed Madison's gaze to the photo.

"Well, that's… that's my late daughter, Amber," Mrs. George replied softly, her glass becoming foggy due to the warm tears in her eyes. "She was a beauty... But why are you crying?"

Madison's heart skipped a beat.

"What? Your daughter? It can't be…Th—that's my MOM!"

The living room fell silent as the two women exchanged a puzzled glance, their eyes filled with emotion. "Your mother?!" Mrs. George whispered.

It was unbearable! For years, my husband insisted we spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with HIS family, never mine. Every single year, the same fight — I'd suggest taking turns or coming up with something fair, but nope, Peter refused to budge about going to my parents' place. This year, I'd had enough. My parents are older and can't travel, so I told him it was happening. No excuses.

He finally agreed but spent days sulking like a kid. When we got there, he was the WORST — being rude to my family, sitting there with this grumpy face like it was torture. I'm pitching in with the cleaning today because Beth, one of our waitresses, is pregnant and felt faint. We're a tight team — when one of us needs a hand, we all step in.

Suddenly, I hear this familiar laugh that just takes me back to high school. I look up, and there she is — Heather, the high school queen bee, with her posse. These were the girls who made my life miserable back then and mocked everything about me. And now? She's smirking, heading straight for me.

MY MIL WENT WITH US ON OUR HONEYMOON TO MAKE MY LIFE HELL – I DIDN'T WANT TO PUT UP WITH IT AND PLANNED THE PERFECT PAYBACK.

My husband and I were getting ready to go on our honeymoon. As we got into the car to head to the airport, my husband casually said we needed to stop by his mother's place first.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because she's coming with us. She's never been on a vacation or traveled abroad in her entire life, so it's only fair she goes with us."

To say I was stunned would be an understatement. "When were you planning to tell me this? And what about our reservations?" I demanded.
