A) Intro
B) Business Stage
C) Artist Development Stage
D) Recording Stage
E) Pro Production Stage
F) Promotions and Distributions
Intro: This is the stage of interest to meet and decide if the client is interested in moving forward with the Project. The two major parts of this stage is the copyright and publishing stages. The copyrights decide owner
ship of each song and is usually granted to the writers and or collaborators of a single song. Copyrights are registered the the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.. The next stage is the Publishing part of the Business. Publishing is how one gets paid royalties for that song. This is where the individual or Group publishing name is established. Though this process, each member will be issued a percentage of each song to equal to 100 percent of song. The three major companies that collect the royalties are ASCAP, BMI, SESEC. ASCAP and BMI collect mostly in the US Territories with SESEC collecting over seas. Artist Development : This stage consist of putting the songs together through rehearsals. ***In the recording business, TIME IS MONEY... In other works WAISTED TIME IS WAISTED MONEY. There will be times in recording where NOTHING goes right, therefore, during this stage on, it is very crucial that rehearsal time and scheduling of rehearsals for the project by treated as MONEY. Recordings: This is the stage of Fun, disappointment, totally jubilation all wrapped up in one.. Some say it is the stage where the sausage is made. Like a good sausage, we enter the studio with a raw, unseasoned sound. Along the way, flavors are added to start to shape and mold the sound. Once all the flavors are added, they are mixed to what we call in the business “Ear Candy”. The song is then canned and the process starts again for the remaining tracks. A days recordings time is usually no fewer that two (2) hours and may extend many hours afterward. Although most recording will be done at the Yobe-Studio which is located in Salisbury, the client may opt to record at another studio. Post Production: This is the stage where all tracks are pulled off the shelf and the final mixes will start. Other producers may be brought in on this process with the final decision made by Barry O. Foreman of Yobe Recordings and the client. The final Tracks for the CD will be decided by the client. Pictures will be taken for the CD Cover with the final Cover shot to be decided by client. Promotions and Distributions: Promotions and Distributions will mainly be done through the internet. The are hundreds of avenues open to independent artist via the internet and most are thriving. Some of the avenues to target are Cd baby, Amazon.com, itunes, to name a few. These are the three biggest company's who distribute independent labels nations wide. There will also be fifty (50) physical CD's made for immediate distributing to the local stores. Finally, with the above services, I will help organize a Cd release event. We will invite several local groups as well as a couple of Music industry professionals to partake in the celebration of the completion and release of the CD. The Start up Cost will be Six-Hundred, fifty dollars ($650.00) to start the project with ($650.00) due at the start of the recording stage.
