I am constantly looking for new and fresh faces to collaborate with and I recently scrolled across Miss Piñons @themetalseamstresss page and saw California, so instantly I gravitate toward a local woman, right! As per usual, I did my due diligence and properly scrolled to find out more about her and saw she was local… local ish!
Of course I asked her to come take a tour of the new home to the @welding_women_syndicate and @the_exploratory_academy .
Julie is an 18 year old welding student which in itself is amazing to me but her mentality is by far more mature then so many people I’ve crossed paths with. Such an impressive attitude about life and a kindred spirit in how we grew up. I cannot wait for you to hear her story!

It’s Monday, we all need a laugh today!

When your mind feels stagnant you need to reinvent yourself to get those wheels moving again. I originally went to college to learn how to tig weld for my former custom suspension shop a few years ago. Many of the things you’re not told are that tig welding is one of the last processes you learn in many programs and that the curriculum isn’t always the best, according to what Im discovering from many who have attended various programs. With that being said, my aluminum experience was lackluster, at best. I recall very little in the ways of instruction but I do remember that this metal had an excitement that stainless and carbon didn’t. Fast forward, I decided to take a class for my birthday with an amazing metal magician who offered an aluminum welding 101 class. After the first hour I realized I had learned more in those 60 minutes that I did in my 2 year degree program. I learned a lesson in humility🤣🤣🤣 I am a control freak, as I am also a welding instructor. Giving up that control was very difficult. Jake taught me to become more fluid in coaching and to be humble, everyday. Very valuable when teaching others. Tomorrow, I’ll be getting in some hood time to practice my aluminum dime laying skills, even if mine were more like aluminum avocados 🤣🤣🤣

Today, I went live with the @welding_women_syndicate website... What originally started out as a meme, then a convo and a “yeah, why don’t we have a girl gang” type page? Sooooo...Instead of the all trades women type page it initially was, I decided to change it up. Why not highlight “Welding Women” and create a platform where you can have a face to inspirational stories, resources and a “girl gang”. This epiphany would end up being the creation of the @welding_women_syndicate The “Syndicate” of women to help our future sisters who decide to forge a similar path as they decide to embark on their own welding journey. Thank you to @eliza_loves_trucks_ for gracing our presence with her ever encouraging words of support, plus being my “OG” Live interview. I decided to name the scholarship tee after her... I’ll explain more about the tee tomorrow.
Also, thank you to @ellamadeit for being the very first sale... And yes, I also named the WWS pullover hoodie after her as well, to commemorate the moment.
Last and definitely not least, thank you to @weldjointed for all the hours of conversation, omitting, laughs and advice as she helps me navigate this journey.
