Hey all! I'm a Jesus-loving, family chilling, nap taking maker who loves ALL things creative! I've always had a passion for paper, scissors, and glue!

Until I was 7, we lived in Sheridan Lake, Colorado. I'm not sure if it can be labeled as a town, village, or ghost town. Anyway...that's beside the point. My family lived across from the street from the post office. I spent many hours there hanging out with the postmaster and he would let me take home a stack of junk mail every now and then. I would then cut, paste, and tape the junk mail into glo

rious creations. Ten times out of ten, if someone couldn't find the scissors, tape, or glue, it could usually be found under piles of cut up mail in my room. I think my parents still blame me if they can't find the tape, scissors, or glue...and I don't live there anymore! Fast forward almost 40 years and I still love to create beautiful messes with paper, tape, and glue. And paint, and embellishments, and glitter! I now have more time to be creative and hope to someday be a full time maker. Until then, it will continue to be a side hustle to my full-time job.

I was planning on a live video tonight, but we are expecting some severe weather. I'll make it up to you on Friday evening.

In the meantime, I wanted to share my latest custom project. I had the pleasure of adding florals to this personalized dala horse for a sweet couple celebrating many, many years together. They have recently moved from their homestead to retirement living and the family wanted to update this hanger for their door.

So we learned a few things in tonight's live tutorial re: bleaching gel and Chalk Couture silkscreen transfers:

1). Clinging Bleaching Gel Toilet Bowl Cleaner works well with Chalk Couture silkscreen transfers

2). Polyester blend t-shirts do not bleach well. Look for 100% cotton t-shirts. The navy shirt is a polyester blend tee and did not bleach well. Bummer -- I was trying to go for a bleached and inked look and it was a big, fat fail.

3). Black tees turn orange when bleached. I sorta, kinda knew that already, but was hoping that it would bleach white this time. However, it's a cool look if you are into orange and black. It's especially cool for any Hallowee graphic tees you might have planned.

4). Use in a well-ventilated area. If you are sensitive to smells or harsh chemicals, you might consider using the bleaching gel outside. It smells clean and bleachy in my craft room right now.

5). I suggest washing your transfers as soon as possible, just to make sure that the bleaching gel doesn't harm the silkscreen if left on too long.

I hope you give this technique a try. It's amazing all of the different mediums that can be used with the Chalk Couture silkscreen transfers. If you are local to me and want a small tub of bleaching gel to try, hit me up. I also have a stash of "scratch and dent" transfers that would be perfect for this kind of project. I'd definitly let you shop my gently used transfer stash.

I'm sure I'll throw in a few projects using new transfer and paste. I've had this Toilet Bowl Cleaner/Bleach Gel in my craft stash for a few years. I've had every intention of trying to see if it would work with the Chalk Couture transfers to easily bleach a graphic tee. Will it work? Let's find out together.

Creating Masterpieces from Messes...

I've always had a passion for paper, scissors, and glue! Until I was 7, we lived in Sheridan Lake, Colorado. I'm not sure if it can be labeled as a town, village, or ghost town. Anyway...that's beside the point. My family lived across from the street from the post office. I spent many hours there hanging out with the postmaster and he would let me take home a stack of junk mail every now and then. I would then cut, paste, and tape the junk mail into glorious creations. Ten times out of ten, if someone couldn't find the scissors, tape, or glue, it could usually be found under piles of cut up mail in my room. I think my parents still blame me if they can't find the tape, scissors, or glue...and I don't live there anymore!

Fast forward almost 40 years and I still love to create beautiful messes with paper, tape, and glue. And paint, and embellishments, and glitter! I now have more time to be creative and hope to someday be a full time maker. Until then, it will continue to be a side hustle to my full-time job.
