I've said before that the total package of a great DJ goes beyond "just music and a few announcements." It's about getting not only the obvious details right the little things that were never even thought of in the first place. The value of a competent wedding DJ is always difficult to articulate, but we have a significant impact on the success of an event, even when there is a coordinator or planner involved.

DJs have a comprehensive view of the entire day and all the elements involved. The puzzle just makes sense to us. A true wedding professional anticipates three steps ahead, taking into account how each vendor and decision can affect one another and the event as a whole. We need to be flexible, big-picture focused, and team players. There are countless behind-the-scenes things that are often overlooked by others that we do instinctively. Many of these actions are unnoticed intentionally, but we do them because they are necessary.

So when people say “how is a DJ charging THIS much to play music for a few hours” or “I don’t need a DJ, we are using Spotify,” I hope this small example highlights why we are charging for an outcome and not the number of hours we are pressing play. We aren’t there to play music, we are there to deliver the celebration you wanted.
