We're not exactly sure what this parade is commemorating, but it's possible that its a Veterans Day Parade or the precursor
to Salem's 225th anniversary. Look for the Salem High School Marching Band, Kev-Ber-Ken Farm, Granz Marine, The Lions Club, and so many ther local orgnizations. A film by Bill Loeffler.

-On January 5, 1776, the people of New Hampshire took a decisive step toward liberty. Nearly six months before the Declaration of Independence, New Hampshire became the first colony to formally establish its own
government, severing ties with Great Britain and asserting the right of self rule.

We're transferring some of our earliest videotape recordings. In the late 1960's and early 1970's, there were many non-standardized videotape recorder formats, meaning that you need the same manufacturers machine to play it back on. Following many years of searching, this one was acquired from a collector in California and is currently only one of two known to exist in the U.S.
The reel to reel, black and white recorder was restored and documented by Obsolete Video in Arizona. The 50-year-old videotapes are baked at 140 degrees for about 8 hours and then cleaned.
Today, we started with a very special program produced by the late SHS student Tammy Harrison. A copy will be made and presented to her family.
