The Severin Sisters Concert March 16th at Stewart’s Hall. A KYAC concert. Tickets online at kyacfm.org. $20 in advance tickets at the door $25.

The Severin Sisters are an American roots band consisting of Amy Severin and Heidi Severin (born September 25, 1983), twin sisters from Salem, Oregon. Younger sister, Haley Severin, officially joined the band in 2017, after years of making special appearances. They have participated in musical festivals and competitions on the state and national levels, ranking highly in several.[citation needed] They have toured the Pacific Northwest since 2001,[1] including opening gigs for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.[2]
At the age of 14, Amy placed second in the Oregon State Banjo Championship.[citation needed] In 2002, she placed 10th in the National Banjo Competition held in Winfield, Kansas.[citation needed]
Heidi won second place at the National Mandolin Championship in 2002.[3]
In 2000, the duo recorded their first album, Too Many Miles. The following year they recorded Let's Talk. Their most recent album, released in 2003, is Carefree Times. Carefree Times was re-released with new graphics June 2007. They have collaborated with such musicians as John Carter Cash and John Cowan of New Grass Revival, and Nashville songwriters Dean Miller and Sarah Majors.
Each sister graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in music. They both now teach music in the Salem-Keizer School District.

HI THERE, I’M KEN CARTWRIGHT ….
HAVE YOU HEARD THE EXPRESSION … “RADIO… WE’RE ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU?”
HAVE YOU IN THE LAST YEAR GONE THROUGH ANY POWER OUTAGES, ICE STORMS, INTERNET AND CABLE TV OUTAGES, FIRES THAT WIPED OUT YOUR NEIGHBORS OR YOUR HOME AND PROPERTY, BAD WEATHER ALERTS , CELL SERVICE OR HOME PHONE OUTAGES, FLOODS, LANDSLIDES, EARTHQUAKES, TORNADOES, VOLCANOS????

MOST OF US HAVE GONE THROUGH THOSE EXACT EXPERIENCES…. IF YOU HAVEN’T, YOU CAN COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!
EVENTUALLY YOU WILL GO THROUGH ONE OR MORE OF THOSE EXPERIENCES ….. ARE YOU READY FOR THEM????
AND IF YOU DID GO THROUGH THOSE AND IF YOU DO GO THROUGH THEM , HOW WILL YOU GET YOUR NEWS, UPDATES, INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT???
WITH NO CELL OR PHONE, CABLE FOR TELEVISION, NO INTERNET FOR COMPUTERS SMARTPHONES… WHERE WILL YOU TURN FOR INFORMATION THAT IS ON, DEPENDABLE, CONCISE, ACCURATE AND PROVIDES ENTERTAINMENT TOO????

RADIO… COMMUNITY RADIO!!
WE MADE A COMMITMENT TO BE THERE FOR YOU A LONG TIME AGO…. WE PLANNED FOR THESE KINDS OF OUTAGES IN OUR AREA AND IT’S A GOOD THING WE DID BECAUSE IN ADDITION TO COVID 19, WE BEEN A BEACON OF INFORMATION FOR YOU 24 HOURS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK. … WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS BROKEN OR NOT WORKING, RADIO IS THERE WORKING FOR YOU.

THIS IS OUR ANNUAL SPRING/SUMMER PLEDGE DRIVE AND THAT’S WHAT KEEPS US ON THE AIR…. LISTENERS LIKE YOU WHO TURN TO US WHEN EVERYBODY ELSE IS GONE, OR YOU TURN TO US BECAUSE YOU LIKE US, OUR MUSIC, OUR NEWS, OUR ENTERTAINMENT THAT DOESN’T BORE YOU, INSULT YOU, OR SHOUT AT YOU…. WE LIVE IN THESE COMMUNITIES THAT COMMUNITY RADIO SERVES AND IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO US THAT WE KNOW AND SHARE THE HONESTY OF WHAT’S GOING ON AROUND US AT ALL TIMES…. WE DON’T DO EDITORIALS, RUN COMMERCIALS SELLING US STUFF WE DON’T WANT OR NEED OR RUN POLITICAL ADVERTISING… THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PLACES THAT DO, BUT IT’S NOT FOR US AND WE THINK IT’S NOT FOR YOU.

COMMUNITIES ONLY NEED A RADIO TO HEAR COMMUNITY RADIO. AND IF THE POWER GOES OUT , DO YOU HAVE A BATTERY POWERED RADIO TO HEAR US. BATTERIES… DON’T COST VERY MUCH… BATTERY POWERED RADIOS …. DON’T COST VERY MUCH AND IT DOESN’T COST ANYTHING TO LISTEN.

THAT’S WHY WE COME TO YOU TO ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT 3 TIMES A YEAR…. THERE ARE SOME WHO LISTEN TO US BECAUSE THEY CAN’T AFFORD A CELL PHONE, INTERNET FOR COMPUTERS, HOME TELEPHONES, CABLE TELEVISION, A CAR, AND THEY DEPEND ON US…. EVEN THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD THOSE THINGS LISTEN TO US BECAUSE WE ARE HERE FOR EVERYONE.

WE WILL BE GIVING AWAY 3 BATTERY-ELECTRIC CC CRANE RADIOS DURING THIS PLEDGE DRIVE SO SOME WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ALWAYS BE PREPARED IN ANY SITUATION TO FIND OUT WHAT’S GOING ON BY TUNING US IN. ALL 3 OF THOSE RADIOS RANGE IN PRICE FROM $69 TO $159 DOLLARS. THEY ARE THE PICK OF LITTER FOR PORTABLE RADIOS. THEY ALL COME WITH A NOAAA BAND THAT WILL BROADCAST LOCAL WEATHER ALERTS, SOME HAVE HAM RADIO BANDS IN ADDITION TO AM/FM RADIO AND NOAA WEATHER BANDS. NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE WITH THEM,YOU WILL HEAR WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE WORLD AROUND YOU…. FREE…. NO CABLE OR TELEPHONE CONNECTIONS NEEDED..

HERE’S HOW OUR DRAWING WORKS… IF YOU CAN DONATE UP TO $25 YOUR NAME WILL GO IN THE DRAWING FOR THE POCKET SIZE CC CRANE PORTABLE RADIO … IF YOU CAN AFFORD UP TO $50, YOUR NAME WILL GO IN THE DRAWING FOR THE MEDIUM SIZE CC CRANE RADIO WITH ALL THE EXTRA BANDS. OR IF YOU CAN AFFORD A DONATION OF $100 OR MORE, YOUR NAME WILL BE ENTERED IN THE TOP OF THE LINE CC CRANE RADIO THAT HAS RICH, CLEAR FIDELITY THAT YOU WILL WANT ON ALL THE TIME..

GIVE US A CALL NOW AT 503-897-6397 TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY RADIO AND A CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF THESE 3 RADIOS. YOU’VE BEEN PUTTING OFF BUYING ONE FOR SOME TIME AND NOW IS THE TIME… DO IT BEFORE THE NEXT EMERGENCY HAPPENS … AND IT WILL HAPPEN… 503-897-6397… SUPORT COMMUNITY RADIO… BECOME A RADIO ACTIVIST… 503-897-6397… KEEP COMMUNITY RADIO RELEVANT.
