SALADO PORCH AND PLANET FESTIVAL
SATURDAY, APRIL 20th, 2024
The 2nd Annual Salado Porch and Planet Festival will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at a variety of Salado locations. The event, organized by Salado’s Music Friendly Community Advisory Board, will provide an afternoon of music, food, Kid Friendly, and Earth Day activities where residents and visitors can stroll the streets the sidewalks, visit various sites and businesses while enjoying the streets of Salado.
The Salado Porch and Planet Festival will take place on the front porches, stoops, yards, or driveways of businesses along Main Street from Salado Plaza Drive to College Hill Drive and on Royal & Rock Streets.
Events will include Family Friendly activities as well as The Native Plant Society’s Spring Plant Sale held from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the Creekside Grounds near the Barrow Brewing Company. The Cancer Fundraising BBQ Cook-Off will feature as many as 20 entries spread out all along Main Street starting at 11:00 and ending at 3:00 PM with the Awards Celebration (Location TBD). Throughout the day, we have added an Environmental Faire at the grounds surrounding the Salado Civic Center featuring several of the areas environmental organizations including Clearwater Water Conservation District, Master Naturalist, Wildlife Certification Program, Homegrown National Parks, Native Plant Society of Texas, and many others.
The Music Friendly Community designation is awarded through the Texas Music Office, a department under the Office of the Governor. The purpose of the Music Friendly Community Advisory Board is to promote music in Salado by connecting and supporting musicians, songwriters, venues, and vendors and advising the Village of Salado on strategies and goals to address opportunities and challenges in the local music industry.
