A publisher, primarily, of books of local and regional history. The Saltmarsh Press was established on St.

Simons Island in 1999 by the late Victor Howard with his wife Margaret Birney upon his retirement from Michigan State where, in addition to research and teaching, he was involved in the university press. From the beginning, Saltmarsh's purpose has been the publication of readable books with authoritative content.
