Fog thinning a bit at sunset today at Clearwater Beach, FL.
Tonight's rocket launch was seen across the southeast coast.
Frequent earthquakes in the last few days had some temporarily evacuating Santorini, Greece.
Oh no, another plane crash! Tonight just after 6pm a smaller jet, a Learjet 55, a medical transport company, crashed into a densely populated area in northeast Philadelphia. Conflicting reports on the amount of passengers with some saying 2 on board or as many as 6. Prayers.
This timelapse from St Pete Beach shows the sea fog deck rising as it approaches the slightly warmer land where air is rising. Later today when the air temps cool (and we add more dewpoint from SSW winds) that deck will lower and it will be sitting on the ground = FOG. That fog should work it's way inland tonight.
A radar screen sent to @rawsalerts on X shows the jet turning N then NNW to land to the NW on runway 33 at DCA. You can see the helicopter traveling southbound along the eastern side of the Potomac River. It's not uncommon to see helicopters flying in that area. Most planes land on the longer runway at DCA (01/19), but the relatively smaller regional jet was asked if they could land on the shorter runway 33. Reports say that request from atc is not out of the ordinary. Note: I added the airplane icon so you could see which one was which.
PLANE CRASH: Washington, D.C. Reagan Natioanl Airport - A CRJ700 regional jet collided mid air with a helicopter and crashed into the Potomac River. It was a PSA Airlines jet flying for American Airlines coming from Witchita, KS. It collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter (Black Hawk) while trying to land at DCA around 9pm this evening. Reports of at least 60 people on board the plane. This was the view from the Kennedy Center camera.
Gasparilla Saturday starts really cold (30s) but will warm to the low 60s with sunshine! Arrgh!!!
Don't think this is snow. It's about 40F and it's not even falling to the ground - so small it's like mist. Shining a bright like can make it look like that. If you do see something like this, look on the hood of a car and see if you see a snowflake that melts. I am expecting to see a cold mist (not frozen) from time to time overnight and even first half of tomorrow.
The snow from yesterday's storm can be seen from space!
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a little mix of precip in northern Citrus Co after 2a. No accumulation, but some sleet and some wet snowflakes perhaps.
