The ACF McKnight Visiting Composer Residencies invite music creators outside of Minnesota to spend approximately 30 days in the state over 18 months, fostering connections and participating in creative projects that engage the local community. While new work may be part of the residency, it is not a requirement, as the emphasis is on artistic exploration and community exchange with Minnesota communities.

Exciting news! "Zheng Tu" has received the 2024 Silver Award from the Global Music Awards for their album that beautifully blends traditional Chinese music with contemporary styles. Dr. Chihchun Chi-sun Lee and Dr. Haiqiong Deng have created a fusion of East and West, inspiring future generations in Asian music.

Out next Friday the 28th! Samn Johnson's "Consolation," a song cycle featuring vocalist Tis Kaoru Zamler-Carhart, and set to Latin poetry from Boethius's "Consolation of Philosophy."

"Consolation"—the album—has been described by composer and music critic Alex Temple as “wildly polystylistic,” but the same can perhaps be said of Boethius's original. Its mix of poetry and prose carried ancient readers along in the visceral flow of Latin meter, careening between intellectual elegance and sheer terror

🎶NEW ALBUM DROP 🎶Check out 2022 Pulitzer finalist Leilehau Lanzilotti's debut album 'the sky in our hands, our hands in the sky' released on innova Recordings featuring Longleash and So Percussion!

In conjunction with the nationally touring exhibition Lanzilotti co-curated, Toshiko Takaezu: Worlds Within, Lanzilotti produced this album of chamber and experimental sound art works that explore the resonance of Takaezu’s bronze bells and the playfulness of her ceramic rattles. Lanzilotti writes, “Growing up at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, I remember Toshiko Takaezu’s ceramic works being the same size as I was—the greeting presence of one of her mahina, or moons, as you entered the museum.”
