We experienced the Chef's Table on our last Royal Caribbean cruise, and it was absolutely incredible. The Chef's Table is an exclusive, intimate dining experience where guests enjoy a multi-course gourmet meal prepared by the ship's executive chef. Limited to a small group, this event takes place in a private setting, offering a personalized experience that includes wine pairings selected by the sommelier. During the dinner, the chef presents and explains each dish, providing insights into its preparation and ingredients. It was a culinary experience we will never forget.

During our last Royal Caribbean cruise, we had the Unlimited Dining Package. We made it a point to try all the specialty dining spots on the ship but Giovanni’s Table absolutely stole the show and became our favorite. Having the unlimited package we went multiple nights through the 10 nights and got to experience many of the dishes!

The freshly baked focaccia, paired with olive oil and balsamic, and the cheese and meat board were the perfect way to kick things off.

The highlight for us were the Tagliatelle Carbonara and the Seafood Linguine dishes. They were full of flavor and the pasta was cooked aldente. We also thought the filet mignon was better than Chops Grille.

For dessert, you couldn’t go wrong with either their cannolis or tiramisu.

Have you tried Giovanni’s? What’s your favorite specialty dining restaurant on Royal Caribbean? Let us know in the comments.

On our last cruise, we did something we have always wanted to do. We purchased the unlimited dining package. This gave us the opportunity to try multiple speciality restaurants throughout the cruise for a single fixed price. The package included dinner at speciality restaurants each night and lunch at Chops Grille on seas days. We were not disappointed and it was a great experience. Oh, those sea day lunches at Chops Grille! The appetizers were always fresh and a perfect lunch size. The steak burger and NY steak salad became our meal of choice on seas days. The desserts were fantastic but the red velvet cake was our favorite. Nap time!

On our recent sailing on the Explorer of the Seas we stayed in Cabin 7628. It is located mid-ship balcony stateroom on Deck 7. The cabin accommodates up to four people, with two twin beds that can convert into a Royal King, an upper pullman bunk (drops from ceiling) and a small pull out couch.

The room was easy access to elevators and the stairs. It is located near the library and we didn’t experience any noise. The room has plenty of storage and closet space, a desk with lighted mirror and a small beverage chiller to keep a few bottles of water slightly chilled.

The bathroom is a standard size for a balcony room. It has a single sink, large mirror, standup shower and toilet. There was plenty of storage space for our toiletries.

The balcony was a good size with two chairs and a small table. The privacy between balconies was excellent but on these older ships the balconies have that more closed in feeling.

This cabin would be a great choice for two adult guests or a family of four.

Would we stay in it again? Yes!

Wrapping up Days 9 and 10 on Explorer OTS were spent at sea before disembarkation in Miami. We spent the days visiting areas of the ship we had yet to explore, relaxing in the Diamond Lounge to “people watch” through the large upper windows, enjoyed looking at the employees gingerbread creations and attended the evening farewell show. Thank you Explorer of the Seas for a fabulous 10 nights of cruising. This was truly a voyage with adventures we will never forget.

Explorer OTS Day 8- St. Croix, USVI. Spent a few hours walking and shopping around the port town of Frederiksted. Enjoyed a shady spot in the city park when a little green four legged friend stopped to say hello. If you like to snorkel,Frederiksted seems to be the place. You have easy access to the water right in the downtown area. At the pier, we spotted a family of sea turtles enjoying the beautiful clear St. Croix water.

EOS Day 7 - St. John’s, Antigua. Highly recommend the excursion called, See Antigua by Sea. We boarded an 80 ft. Catamaran that took us on a full circle tour of the island. The stop on Green Island we got to snorkel, swim and have lunch. It was a beautiful bay. The snorkeling was fantastic, we saw sea turtles, a nurse shark, a variety of fish and many large brain coral. The Antigua Yacht show is currently in progress so the captain took us on a tour of the yachts in the harbor. The island is beautiful with many resorts, beautiful homes and beaches along its coast. Ended our day on the water with an amazing rainbow over the ship! Life is good!

Day 6 - Castries, St. Lucia on the Explorer of the Seas. We took a six hour West Coast Catamaran Cruise around the island. Visited Anse Cochon Bay to snorkel and swim. We then hopped back on the catamaran and sailed to the Pitons, two twin mountains that stand 2,200 feet above sea level. Our final stop before heading back to the ship was a visit to Marigot Bay. Had to try a cold local beverage before leaving beautiful St. Lucia. Our first time in St. Lucia, but definitely not our last! We will be back, it’s a beautiful island!

Day 5 on the Explorer of the seas, Philipsburg, St. Maarten. Stopped by Le Petit Gourmet Philipsburg - French Supermarket for a resupply our expresso pods, pate spreads and a delicious sausage stuffed pastry. Then spent a few hours enjoying the sea views and exploring the shops before heading back to the ship.

Day 4 on the Explorer of the Seas was spent in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We went on the “ Old San Juan Free Walking Tour.” Very knowledgeable tour guide and highly recommend the company if you are ever visiting San Juan-check out the photo for the info. San Juan is full of history and colorful Spanish colonial buildings. We were able to see two of the four landmark forts and walk the beautiful blue cobblestone streets. So much to see! Back on the ship for dinner at Giovanni! More to come on our dinner experiences for the week!
