The Minor softball all-stars will wrap up their final practice at Benzinger Park today at 5:30 p.m. From there, the girls will hang around at the park until 6:30 p.m. Community members are invited to join the team for a final sendoff ahead of their trip to Staten Island, N.Y. for the Eastern Regional.
On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, East Joseph Road will be closed to thru traffic from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 613 East Joseph Road. The City Street Department will be digging up the entire width of the road to investigate and repair a road cave-in at this location. Those travelling in this area will need to find an alternate route. The City of Saint Marys appreciates your cooperation during this project.

Dear Community:
We have had so much success with our St. Mary's Softball All-Stars in recent years and this year is proving to be a success once again! Our Minor All Star girls (8-10 year olds) have won the District 10 title, the Section 1 title and last night they were able to bring home the Pennsylvania State title as well! Next week, the girls will travel to the Eastern Regional Tournament where they will battle against the other 9 states that make up the Eastern Region. We are again calling on our community to help support them for their trip to the Eastern Region tournament which is being held in Staten Island, NY.
Our Minor League All-Star PA State Champions are heading to Staten Island, NY to compete in the tournament which will be held July 31st through August 4th. They will not only be representing St. Marys, District 10 and Section 1 but also our great state of Pennsylvania. We are so proud of these girls and we know that our community is also extremely proud. We are reaching out to the St. Marys community to try to raise some money to cover travel expenses that will be incurred by these players, coaches, and families.
With our departure being in just four days, we are hoping to raise money for a five night stay at the tournament. With the rising costs of hotel stays, gas, food and other expenses, this may sometimes become a financial burden on the families. Parents are taking off work or sending their children with others so that they can represent our state of Pennsylvania.
Any donation that you could make would be appreciated and will go directly to the costs incurred by the girls and their families. Checks can be made to St. Marys Little League Softball and picked up at your business by any of the family members.
Thank you!!!! 💜🩵💜

It was a honor to host the St. Marys Area School District staff today. As part of a place-based learning initiative, members of SMASD partnered with local businesses and entities to learn about what and how they do it. One hope, is that this will better enable them to help steer students down future career paths. There are a lot of opportunities for young people in our area, but many of them aren't commonly known.
Thank you SMA for showing up, being attentive, actively participating, and inviting us in the first place. It was a great morning. 👩‍🏫
We had the pleasure of meeting Jr. Officer Charleigh Shaffer today as she delivered us cookies. We wish to thank Charleigh for the cookies and visiting us at City Hall!!
For those of you who frequent Interstate 80...
Originally anticipated to end this Friday, July 26, the overnight short-term lane closures associated with the North Fork Bridges project in Jefferson County will remain in effect for the east and westbound left lanes until Friday, Aug. 16, and for the widening of the median shoulders along I-80.
Also this Friday, PennDOT will change the traffic pattern at the site of its Interstate 80 bridge replacements project between mile markers 165 and 166 in Centre County. This project consists of roadway improvements to improve the ride quality of Interstate 80, Huber Ridge Road and Sand Ridge Road while also replacing the four bridges spanning Huber Ridge and Sand Ridge roads to improve their overall condition rating.
The left lanes in each direction were closed early in March. On Friday, the right lane will be closed in both directions so expect delays while the transition is made on Friday. Pennsylvania State Police will be on site to assist with the traffic switch.
The project won't be completed until sometime in 2026.

ATTENTION...IMPORTANT CHANGE TO THE BIG 30 FOOTBALL PRACTICE SCHEDULE. All practices that were originally scheduled to be on Parkway Field at Bradford Area High School (on 7/22/24, 7/23/24, 7/24/24) will now happen at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School (140 Lorana Ave., Bradford, PA 16701). The track is being replaced at the high school and, due to a material backorder situation, the contractor was unable to finish it before Big 30 practices began. Because we need to cross the track to get to the field, the school district prefers that we not practice there. Fretz Middle School football field will be lined and ready for us to use though. The attached practice schedule shows these changes. Please replace your current practice schedule with this one.
Also, please note that the locations for physicals has NOT changed. Pennsylvania will still receive physicals at Bradford Regional Medical Center (Same Day Surgery) and New York will still receive physicals at the Olean Medical Group building (Second Floor, Area A-2) at 5pm today!

Johnsonburg Area Residents to Benefit from Infrastructure Grant, says Armanini
HARRISBURG – Customers of the Johnsonburg Municipal Authority will see an improvement in the quality of their drinking water thanks to a more than $5 million Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) grant, according to state Rep. Mike Armanini (R-Clearfield/Elk).
“I’m happy to see the authority’s application for financial assistance be approved,” said Armanini. “They deserve credit for making known a need that exists in their community, and I was more than happy to support them in presenting this to the PENNVEST board of directors for consideration.”
The grant will address the authority’s desire to expand public water service and complete upgrades to the distribution system that will reduce leaks, eliminate flow restrictions, and address water quality issues. A new waterline will be installed along State Route 219, while a line is being proposed for the area near Launer Drive and another waterline replacement project is planned for Rose and Grove streets in Johnsonburg Borough.
PENNVEST serves the communities and citizens of Pennsylvania by funding sewer, storm water and drinking water projects in the form of low-interest loans and supplemental grants to local municipalities.
Questions about this or any state government issue should be directed to Armanini’s St Marys district office at 814-781-6301 or his DuBois office at 814-375-4688.
