Hispanic Heritage Month ends on October 15 so I wanted to take another opportunity to speak on Afro-Traditions in the Caribbean. I speak on this even without a “Holiday” because some people need the reminder. Ok? Ok.
We all know somebody who gasps and clenches their pearls when you say you’re a witch, spiritual worker, practitioner of Santeria, Vudu, Hoodoo, Espiritismo, Sanse, etc. The dirty looks given to people who wear all white, spiritual beads and head wraps along with the chisme and Mal de Ojo. Many people are quick to judge you for your spiritual practice because of pure ignorance and being close minded.
First and foremost, God comes first in all Caribbean practices so before you throw Holy Water and pull out your bible Karen, know that God and all my angels are by my side. Let’s normalize different traditions still being of Light when it’s not Catholic, Christian, Pentecostal and so on. Do you really need a history lesson behind the dark and ugly sides of Christianity? Read and educate yourself before you come with your ignorance and unhealed energy speaking on things you have zero knowledge of. With the Light also comes the dark, and yes there are people who practice dark magick & do horrid things, but news flash: so do many other people outside of Magick. Are we now blind of the violence that takes part in the world? It does not speak for ALL OF US.
It’s normal to be afraid of things you don’t understand so educate yourself, ask questions respectfully, don’t be ignorant — stay in your lane.

Have you checked in with your mental health? Are you engaging with energies that are detrimental to your physical and spiritual health? There needs to come a time where you take responsibility and accountability for your actions and stop blaming others for the toxicity you allow in your life. It’s not too late to back up and say “I do not like how this is feels” or “I don’t like who I am becoming because of this”.
You are not bond by anyone or anything. Don’t ignore the red flags — Grant yourself freedom and liberation.
Side Note: If you are someone struggling with addiction, don’t be embarrassed to reach out for help. True Strength is being able to get up and make a change.
