Today, we celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — a visionary who dreamed of equality, justice, and unity. His unwavering courage reminds us that each of us has the power to create positive change in our communities.

As we honor his life, let us commit to walking in his footsteps: standing against injustice, embracing diversity, and spreading love in all we do.

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“We all remember MySpace, right? In high school, I taught myself how to use Adobe products and would make custom MySpace templates as a side hustle. Me and my brother thought we were doing something! He would get the clients, and I would do the designs.

I grew up, ended up at a job working for Team One Credit Union, and that’s when I met Jerome Buckley from The Michigan Banner. During our conversation, I told him that I could help with his website, and that’s how we started working together.

Because we even met, I was talking with some people about creating a community magazine, so meeting Jerome was the universe handing me an opportunity to be part of something like that.

After Jerome retired earlier this year, I took over as owner of The Michigan Banner. I’m deeply honored and thrilled to take on this role. I see the potential for what The Michigan Banner can become. Who’s going to tell our local stories like we can? Our stories from our perspective?

The Michigan Banner has been a cornerstone of our community, and I look forward to building on its legacy.”
