World Soil Day was adopted in 2002 by the International Union of Soil Sciences to raise awareness about the importance of soil as a critical component of the natural system and human well-being.

According to the Ag Census, Asian farms rose from 18,338 farms in 2017 to 19,492 while increasing the market value of products sold by 4.5 million. Sustainable soil management is important to farming and the livelihood of farmers.

The search for Mai Sai Vue has ceased. The body of the teenager was recovered by police divers, the family reports. The teen, a San Francisco City College student, was last seen on Halloween night heading to the Golden Gate Bridge before her disappearance.

Curriculum on Hmong American history and culture, the Vietnamese American refugee experience, the Cambodian genocide, and Native American studies, will soon be taught in select school districts in California. The lessons will offer students a better understanding of history and culture.

Misty Her tells a touching story about her mother’s clearing ground outside the school hut in the Ban Vinai Refugee Camp in Thailand, telling her that, because she was a girl, and couldn’t study in the school, Misty would study the lessons her mother would prepare for her in the dirt.

Now, she's responsible for 70,000 students in the Fresno Unified School District as the interim Superintendent. Read her story below.

Today is dedicated to honoring the memory of transgender individuals whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. The 2012 National Transgender Discrimination Survey found that 49% of API transgender and gender non-conforming respondents were harassed, 8% were physically assaulted, and 10% were sexually assaulted at work.

Moreover, according to the California Healthy Kids Survey which explored the experiences of LGBTQ+ students from 7th, 9th, and 11th graders in California public schools, 55.7% of Hmong students had suicidal thoughts or ideas of completing su***de because of their identification as being transgendered. +

Veterans Day is a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their service and sacrifice for their country. During the Vietnam War, the CIA conducted a secret war in Laos that relied on Hmong soldiers to prevent the threat of communism from spreading deeper into Southeast Asia. Although the Hmong people’s role in America’s history is often not taught in school, let’s not forget about the sacrifices our people made. It is estimated that 40,000 Hmong died during the secret war.
