History: In 1963, Evan Mixon, our founder, purchased a weekly shopper from a friend and began a local family business that has flourished over the years. In 1966 his oldest son, Dennis Mixon graduated from college and began to sell ads. We were approached by The Ruskin Bank to buy the assets of The Observer News, which was STARTED in 1958. Evan combined the two papers into The Shopper & Observer N

ews. Included in the Observer assets were two printing presses and other related equipment that Dennis began learning to operate. In 1970 the business incorporated as M&M Printing Company and has enriched the lives of our family, our readers and the businesses in the community, which have benefited from our effective advertising media. In 1977 Stephen (Mickey) Mixon joined the company, also selling advertising, and currently serves the company as President. In 1984 Dennis and Mickey expanded into a 9,000 sq. plant and bought the companies first web press. Before 1984, larger companies did printing in Bradenton. Having our own press gave us the ability to increase circulation and page count and also gave us better control of the delivery schedule of the paper. Specializing in tabloid printing and small-run newspapers, (both black and white and four-color processing), we regularly print on 30-pound standard, 35-pound high bright news, and 50-pound offset paper. We print short tabs, broad sheet, magazines of all types, and enjoy long runs as well. We can also print newsletters, mailers, postcards and business cards. Our Company has always maintained high standards in relationships with our customers. We pride ourselves in producing quality and in our dedication to serving your needs.

You do not have to live in Sun City Center to volunteer to be on the SCC Emergency Squad.
Summer in Sun City Center is different. Many clubs and organizations won’t meet again until September, or later. But the SCC Emergency Squad is here all year, every day and every night. If you are thinking of giving your time to a worthy cause and looking for ways to stay healthy – have they got a deal for you.
SCC Emergency Squad is hosting an information meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at it’s training center, 124 S. Pebble Beach, Sun City Center. This will last about an hour and give you a chance to learn more about what they do, visit with some of the volunteers and ask questions about how they operate. Learn about the great benefits that volunteering has in store for you.
Light refreshments will be served.
