I’ve been pretty busy writing and drawing for my reboot of “Lost Bread”, the origin of “Creeping Wave Radio” and “The U Mind” reincarnating it into an illustrated novel series.
Featured here is my (fictional) ex, Josie. She’s one of the driving characters in the plot-line , but I got too distracted by offshoot projects to do her story justice.

I quit drinking at the start of COVID lockdowns. It wasn’t really a conscious decision. I just found I didn’t really need to drink, now that I didn’t have the stress of contending with people.

I learned early on to deal with people I don’t necessarily want to be around by placating them. The hope being that if I give them what they want, they’ll go away.

Unfortunately, it usually has the opposite effect. Those people gravitate towards me because I’m feeding them exactly what they want to hear.

I basically let myself become a passenger in my own existence.

I figured that’s just how life works, you’re always answering to someone, when do we ever really get what we want anyway?

I anesthetized myself to cope.

The lockdowns gave me a chance to see what life was like when I wasn’t constantly tending to someone else’s ego.

I took up hiking, and rediscovered the world that had been going on all around me, while I sat in front of my computer monitor.

My art and writing used to be my refuge.

Unfortunately, that haven was stolen from me by belligerent interlopers.

Interlopers who slunk into the DMs looking to break me down, tout their own expertise over mine and when I dared to defend myself, insist I was sick or mentally ill.

Of course, they were quick to offer up their own special brand of salvation.

Art became a sort of albatross I wore around my neck.

Being an artist or writer, Hell any kind of creative, relegated you to the dregs of society. The people who lived in their own delusions, dependent upon everyone else around them to take up the burden of their lives and support them while they whiled away in their own heads.

I didn’t want to be that kind of person and I certainly wasn’t going to let such people drag me down into the mire of their ruin.

In my podcast, the U Mind, I wrote that we needed to go on hiatus because outside parties had infiltrated the studio, and were spying on us.

Given the nature of social media, that wasn’t far from the truth.

I’ve taken time off to recommit to myself. I’m tending to my own health and happiness rather than to shoulder the burden of someone else’s.

It’s a slow journey, but tiny gains are still gains.

I’m hoping to do a full update about it soon, but between time hopping, hiding from interdimensional overlords and dealing with Old Scratch and his non-stop demands, it keeps getting pushed to the back burner!
