The UA175 Limiting Amplifier, sought after in the audio community,and are rare on the vintage market. Some fans of this compressor contend it is the best compressor ever made. “Jason Carmer Third Eye Blind” nothing compares to the 175. There was a slight problem so I said ok let’s see what going inside.
To make a long day short, a tube had to be reseated. At first I thought maybe the supply caps, no all good and calibrated back in the rack ready to work. I’ve had these a long time and still love them with the others we have.
One point of interest,one of these came from CBS Recording Studios. They did a great mod on these units. They replaced the 6BC8 tube with the very rare 6386 tube. The difference the 6386 tube is a very stable tube keeps the unit at its peek.

Just checking out a Fender Deluxe from an old high School Mate of mine.
I wouldn’t touch a thing in this amp. Cleaned all moving parts and re tightened all the power tube sockets. Sounds great now, I never seen an amp this clean so nice. I know one may say change the supply caps. But this is like out of a book. Good luck with it Jeff.

The Gibson Br9
This amp was a rust bucket, a friend of mine said here see what you can do. This Br9 is from early 50s .
These old Gibson’s are are like ford engines to me.
From top to bottom the amp was worked on. For
those who know, this little br9 now rocks very well.
1 ten inch field coil speaker, two 6v6s, one 6j7 and one 5Y3.
I kept the Restoration as vintage as I could not going crazy with a finished look.
We use these amps with others at the same time to get a very unique tone in our guitars for our productions .

Neve Console + Mike Dimeo = great match. Glenn Goldman in today with a great track and Mike makes it sound perfect. Mike knows how to play to the song.
Makes my job so easy as Producer. A little trick from Mutt Lang hire the right musician for the job.

We had the best time cutting drums for Patterns of Decay here with Matthew Murphy and the Liquid Studios crew. To see the boys popping up on Guitar World warms the heart. Proud of the boys and Dan/Liquid absolutely KILLED the production.
