What do Joe Load, interviewing contestants after wrestilingin chocolate syrup, Dave "Dare" Riegler, Bill Keeler (with hairs, Kevin Uvani, and Marisa Skutnick have in common? They're all starring in the movie "No Budget Television" screening at the Rome Capitol Theatre, Thursday, October 17 at 7pm.

No Budget Television – It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world of crazy events filmed in Utica, Rome and the surrounding area (some true). Originally released 25 years ago, before cell phones, when people didn’t think the video would ever be seen. The low brow comedy features a list of local people you probably know: Kevin Uvanni, Nelson Rudiak, Frank Mc Bride, Callendra Comstock, Dare Reigler, Nelson Rudiak, Rick E. Lewis, Erin Austin, Lynne Garlinghouse, Dennis Bird, Robin Banks, Ann Sweet, Tracy Stigleman, Dennis Bartosiewicz, Tamara Atkins, Linda Murphy, Marissa Skutnick and a whole bunch of other people who are glad their names are not listed here.

I like to make recordings. COVID pretty much ended the in person recording studio sessions. So, I took to the internet and found musicians to work with by exchanging audio files and mixing on Pro Tolls at home. Something I do to this day.

One person I met is Liliia Kysil (pictured) from Ukraine. She sang vocals on a couple of songs. We have exchanged audio files on a regular basis.

One day I found myself waiting for an unusually long time for the files. When they finally were delivered, they were poor low resolution files. Not up to the standard I usually received from her.

She apologized and explained, "The internet has been down and I haven't been able to send large files. Will resend when things clear up."

I have talked to her via text. She is OK and still records.

Independence Day isn't something everyone gets to celebrate.
Just a thought on July 4th, 2024 in America.

Saturday, May 18, starting at 1 (in the afternoon) at Cinema Capitol, 230 West Dominick Street, Rome (next to the Capitol Theatre) catch some great local movie shorts and a really special 30 minute short called "The World Series of Bocce: A Celebration of Sport, Family and Community" by Francis DiClemente. It takes a look at Rome, the people and the world famous Bocce tournament.
