A cat was rescued from a fire that heavily damaged a home on Sholtz Road on Saturday, according to the Oneida Castle Fire Department.

No one was home when the fire was discovered shortly after 11 a.m. at 4084 Sholtz Road, located east of the village. No people were injured.

In anticipation of a heavy snowstorm tonight, the city of Utica and the Village of Whitesboro have declared snow emergencies. ❄️

The declaration will go into effect at 8 p.m. in Whitesboro and 10 p.m. in Utica. The streets are expected to be clear to allow for snow removal and emergency services. Any vehicles left on city or village streets will be subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense, officials said.
