If any of you have seen our cat, Scar, the yellow one, please let us know. Haven't seen him since Sunday night which is extremely unusual. He wanders visiting his other cat friends, but it is rare when he's away for more than a few hours. He's wearing his collar with a name tag. Collar is a multi colored breakaway. He's also chipped.

Thanks!!

Last Sunday I noted another fox pup pop up out of a culvert in a driveway on Hayes Drive. Keep an eye out for others.

Just in case you did not know, like me until yesterday, Betty Hildebrand passed away on April 9. I wish that we had known as we haved lived across from Betty and Hartwell for almost 20 years. We really need to do a better job and I apologize. I was so busy the last couple of weeks of tax season, I don't think I even read a newspaper. If you hear of any deaths of our current or former neighbors, please call, text, or let me know by smoke signals or morse code.

BETTY HILDEBRAND OBITUARY
Betty Hildebrand
February 5, 1933 - April 9, 2023
Rock Hill, South Carolina - Betty Thurmond Hildebrand, 90, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina at 2:00. The family will receive friends at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will be private.
Betty was born February 5, 1933, in Roanoke, Virginia, one of eight children of the late Jack and Lula Thurmond. She graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1951. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Hartwell Hildebrand. The couple married on June 13, 1954. Following Hartwell's completion of medical school and service in the Air Force, the couple moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 1961 for Hartwell to set up his medical practice.
Betty created a loving and caring home for her husband and their three children. She was active in the Rock Hill community from the time she and Hartwell moved to Rock Hill. She served in the Junior League and York County Medical Auxiliary. She was an active member of Floribunda Gardening Club and Perigee Book Club. She volunteered at Ebinport Elementary School, taught first grade Sunday school at Oakland Baptist Church for thirty years and volunteered at Project Hope House. Betty also loved the game of tennis. She was a tough competitor on the court and won several local tournaments.
Whether it be making gingerbread men for neighborhood families or creating a flower arrangement for a young couple's wedding, Betty took great joy in doing for others. She will be remembered for her kind heart and love of her family.
Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Dr. Hartwell Hildebrand; their son Jim (Alice) Hildebrand of Rock Hill, Dr. Hart Hildebrand of Rock Hill and Dr. Brian Colletto of Rock Hill (Jan Colletto of Rock Hill and Jay Colletto of Rock Hill); their son John Hildebrand of Rock Hill, Emily Hildebrand of Rock Hill; and daughter Sally (Dennis) Rhoad of Charleston, SC, Myers Rhoad (Stephen Kuhn) of Denver, CO, Charlotte Rhoad of Denver, CO.
In honor of Betty, donations may be made to Oakland Baptist Church at 1067 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC, 29732 or Palmetto Community Health Care at 410 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Everyone should please with capital letters reduce their speeds on the "Streets of Fairlawn". Please also let your repairmen/lawn maintenance folks be alerted also. The worst places in the neighbor are the straight stretches, such as Welborn down Fairlawn to James Court and reverse and from Hayes up Welborn. There are numerous blind spots because of curves in the road so please be careful and slow down as there are neighbors backing out of driveways and kids playing in the yard/streets.

I had dinner last night with a Rock Hill Police Lieutenant and we discussed the "street racing" on Herlong which is really getting bad. It's almost a daily occurrence and the speeds are approaching 100 MPH. The officer confirmed what I suspected and they recognize the problem.

Keep safe out their folks! Hillstreet Blues????

Is it snowing yet?

I think I have finally figured out what I was doing wrong on the Fairlawn Neighborhood Association Group page and have assigned Ashley Stevenson the moderator role. I'll still stay active though. Too young to quit yet!

This Friday, January 15 is the last day to cast a ballot for Association officers. Be sure to indicate your address or last name on the ballot that you cast so we can make sure dues have been paid. If you have a question about that, contact me since I have a list of paid members. Thanks!!

01/04/2022

I have been collecting the ballots over the past few days for our officer election. However, about half of the ballots have no way to identify who submitted and we cannot validate a ballot without knowing whether your dues have been paid.

The only way I know to rectify is for me to put those unsigned ballots back in the blue box on my mailbox post and ask that you stop back by and sign your name to the ballot.

Thanks! Also please pass the word to your neighbors and also remind them to sign their ballot if they have not turned it in yet.

Fairlawn Neighborhood Association Annual Dues are past due unless you have already paid. If you have not paid, please submit your dues to Laura Mallard or me(Wayne Terry, 2055 Eakle Drive) and I will get to Laura since she is out of town this week. The election ballots are being distributed this week and you will need to pay your dues for your vote to be counted. Election ballots and unpaid dues should be put in the blue box that is under my mailbox(Again Wayne Terry, 2055 Eakle Drive). I am collecting and will submit the ballots and payments to Laura who is chairing our ballot committee.

On another point, I want to thank Rebecca and Rick Bridges for hosting out Annual Christmas Party at their house. We had a great time and look forward to more social events and activities in the coming year. Let's get this Association back together and rockin' again!!
