The Greater Rochester Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will be celebrating Juneteenth with the annual Juneteenth festival on June 15 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, 353 Court St. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and the festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This year’s theme is “From 1964 to 2024: 60 Years in the Fight for Justice In Rochester.” There will be many activities and events free to the public.

On June 8 the Greater Rochester Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will be holding a Juneteenth rally that will “highlight the July 1964 Rochester Uprising to provide historical education about the three days of unrest and the opportunity to contribute to the future state of what justice looks like in our community.” The rally will take place at the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, 351 Joseph Avenue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
