Three Kings Arrive in Rochester
Happy Three Kings’ Day!
Each year on January 6th it is customary for Latin cultures to celebrate Three Kings’ Day. During this holiday, families gather to enjoy traditional foods and activities in celebration of the day when the kings, known also as wise men, visited baby Jesus bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
In Puerto Rico, children participate by leaving shoe boxes stocked with hay or grass and water beneath their beds on Jan. 5 in anticipation of the kings and their camels arriving in exchange for gifts.
Three Kings’ Day celebration at City Hall!
For the first time ever the City of Rochester is commemorating Three Kings’ Day, or the Feast of the Epiphany, on Monday, Jan. 6.
Three Kings’ Day is widely celebrated within the Latin culture.
The music group, Sonidos Unidos, perform as community members celebrate the passing of the Farmworkers Fair Labor Act during the annual Harvesting Justice celebration, hosted by the Rural & Migrant Ministry, Inc.
