On Saturday, December 14 a few special Buffalo friends are going to be doing a book signing at the Pittsford Barnes & Noble - Barbara Irwin, Tony Buttino Sr, and Pam Johnson will be signing copies of their book 'Creating Reading Rainbow: The Untold Story of a Beloved Children's Series'. The book details the history of long-standing beloved television program, Reading Rainbow.

Fun fact: Reading Rainbow was created up the Thruway at WNED PBS in Buffalo!

The event honors the work of urban, suburban, and rural teen filmmakers and provides young people an authentic opportunity to participate in a real film festival. On the heels of Voces American Historia: The Untold History of Latinos’ successful run on PBS, WXXI is pleased to host a special virtual discussion with the series’ director Ben DeJesus and creator/host John Leguizamo. The two will join us via Zoom to share how the series came about, their creative approach, what they have learned, and more.

Voces American Historia: The Untold Story of Latinos, a three-part series that follows John Leguizamo on his quest to uncover Latino and Latina heroes and their contributions premiered on WXXI-TV and PBS stations across the county in September. The series delves into both well-known and lesser-known stories of Latino history, spanning thousands of years, from the Ancient Empires to the present, and shining a light on the rich and often overlooked history of Latinos.

Voces American Historia: La historia no contada de los latinos, una serie de tres partes que sigue a John Leguizamo en su búsqueda para descubrir héroes latinos y latinas y sus contribuciones se estrenó en WXXI-TV y estaciones de PBS en todo el país en septiembre.
