In a little while - I get to tell my story about running a business and being a mom with all of the challenges I faced; sharing how I overcame things and moved on dreaming new dreams. It's not easy - as we all know - it is possible.
I am hoping to inspire a room full of Mompreneurs this AM. Telling all about it - and I titled it: C'est La Vie - Welcome to the Party: The Making of Tamara MacDuff.

Walking on water..dedicated to Emily, Jayden and Ricky love you!!
That’s what we do! We have the conversations that need to be had so that the community can take action and we can work to remove the stigmas associated with addiction, disabilities, and mental illness.
Otivia and I jumped at the opportunity to have our own segment on Rock the Roc w/Uncle Slosh and
Juda. We both love rock and roll, we both have children with disabilities and who suffer with mental illness and I (Tamara) have friends and family who suffer with addiction.
I lost my daughter to this horror of the Opioid Epidemic. Every day I run into people who tell me that they still can’t believe Emily died of an overdose; specifically a Fentanyl overdose. She wasn’t the “type”. We, her family, had no idea she was using - so we couldn’t help her. I can only imagine it was because of shame she didn’t tell us - among other reasons. I wanted to stop this craziness. Remove the Stigma and help people not shame them.
Otivia has a son who struggles with Autism and Mental Illness. Yet, he thrives - because of her and the support and love she gives. He thrives because she makes sure that agencies give him care.
We want people to be better and to do better. We all can do something. So we are highlighting individuals, agencies and local businesses who support and do the right thing, whether the newspapers are watching or not.
We are telling the stories of those who can’t. We are telling the stories of those who have overcome. We are having the hard conversations. We are doing what we can.
What are you doing to Be The Change? Want us to feature you or someone you know on our segment, Emily’s Light (A person who has overcome their obstacles and thrived)? Want to be a guest to talk about your story, your business or your agency and how you are moving the community forward? Email us at [email protected]
Join the conversation. Take Action. Remove Stigmas.
