The ROLEX 24 takes the green today. 61 cars and 230 (plus) drivers across 4 classes will roll off the start at 1:40pm eastern.
There will be no more tweaking or practicing as the real deal will be on. The VP SportsCar Challenge, Michelin Pilot Challenge and Mazda MX-5 Cup have had their season already start with racing earlier in the week. The BMW M Endurance Challenge was the latest run yesterday (Friday 1-24) with, perhaps, some lessons and points for the bigger ROLEX today.
Patience and preparation. Granted, there is not much to do on the prep side as qualifying has run and the grid is set. The best to offer there is be ready for anything. Patience may be the elephant on the track. The Pilot Challenge group got into tight racing very early and quite a few cars were off the track for it with crashes and spins. The prep and patience were also highlighted with a fire and a lost wheel early on.
Don't forget, Virginia - This race starts the season with racing coming from IMSA later this year at VIRginia International Raceway!
Today, the IMSA WeatherTech ROLEX 24 front starters are for each class are shown from the Andy Blackmore Spotter Guide.

FINAL DATE ANNOUNCED FOR 2025 SMART MODIFIED TOUR SLATE

Southern Modified Series To Visit Franklin County Raceway with New Management

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Martinsville, VA (January 7, 2025) - As the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic is slated to celebrate its most recent campaign, the final date for its 2025 slate is now official.

SMART officials confirmed today the Kenny Minter Classic will return to Franklin County Raceway on Friday, May 23. The traditional event comes on the heels of an announcement of new management at the Callaway, Virginia racetrack.

“I am excited to go back to one of my favorite race tracks,” said Chris Williams, Director of the SMART Modified Tour. “Tim (Meadows) and his group are doing a lot at the track with some necessary improvements for the race fans and competitors. We needed to get fans engaged from scoreboards, additional bathrooms and some other great enhancements.

“Our traditional Memorial Day Weekend race on that Friday is a great fit for the SMART Modified Tour and everyone at Pace-O-Matic,” continued Williams. “The competition at Franklin County always produces some great racing and fantastic finishes.”

Franklin County Raceway, Virginia’s Action Track, is now spearheaded by Roanoke Valley businessman, Timothy Meadows, through his company Franklin County Raceway, LLC. The team is currently working on several projects ahead of its scheduled April 5 season opener, including a new scoreboard, repairing drainage issues in the infield, bathroom upgrades, PA system repairs and much more.

The Kenny Minter Classic at Franklin County Raceway, on Friday, May 23, will serve as the sixth of 14 races on this year’s schedule.

While SMART will honor its champion Luke Baldwin this Friday (January 10) at its annual banquet, teams are already getting primed for the first couple of events for 2025. Both of those initial races will occur in the Palmetto State of South Carolina.

Florence Motor Speedway, in the northeastern part of the state, holds the traditional season opener, with the Zack Brewer Memorial, at Florence Motor Speedway (Timmonsville, SC) on Saturday, March 1. The SMART Modifieds will make a return to the Anderson Motor Speedway, in central South Carolina, for the second event on Saturday, March 8.

The biggest race on the 2025 slate comes next as the “King of the Modifieds” returns to Virginia’s South Boston Speedway on Saturday, March 22.

The SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic, announced its full schedule for 2025 in early December.

All races are streamed live on FloRacing, the official streaming broadcast partner of the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic.

This year will mark the fifth full-season of SMART Modified Tour racing since its return. Many of Modified racing’s best drivers, from all over the country, will compete with the series, which visits 13 different racetracks in three different states in the Mid-Atlantic - North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. 📰 NEWS: Amanda Bradley acquires Natural Bridge Speedway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (Jan. 6, 2025) – One year after being named promoter of Natural Bridge Speedway, Amanda Bradley is proud to announce that she has purchased the three-eighths-mile dirt oval from Joe Glassford.

“It was an honor to be named promoter of Natural Bridge Speedway one season ago and now I’m thrilled to say that I’ve acquired the facility from Joe Glassford and JCG Adventures,” said Bradley. “The chance to take ownership of Natural Bridge Speedway was one I couldn’t pass up. I’m excited to build on the great 2024 season and do even more in 2025.”

Since taking over as promoter at Natural Bridge Speedway one season ago, the facility has seen a large increase in support from both competitors and sponsors.

Last season, through Bradley’s tireless efforts, Natural Bridge Speedway was able to award its track champions with a variety of major prizes. They include a new Double Nickel chassis to the champion of the Crate Late Model division and a new Pitboxes.com pit box to the champion of the Sportsman division.

Other major division supporters included The Joie of Seating, K1 Racegear and VP Racing Fuels.

Now that the purchase of the facility is behind her, Bradley is already focused on what she can do to further improve Natural Bridge Speedway for fans and competitors.

“Last year we did a lot to spruce up the facility,” Bradley said. “We put in new toilets and sinks in all the bathrooms, extended pit parking, cleaned up the entire property, added a victory lane and revamped the scoreboard, just to name a few. We won’t be stopping there.

“We’ve already brought in new clay for the racing surface, and we are also planning on installing new lights around the facility. I’m excited to continue renovating the track and make it the best dirt track in Virginia. With the team I have behind me, I feel like we can make it happen.”

Plans are already being made for the 2025 season, which includes the addition of a Stock 4 class for the upcoming season. Bradley also aspires to bring back super late models, truck and tractor pulls and demolition derbies to Natural Bridge in the near future.

Full details about Natural Bridge Speedway’s 2025 schedule will be announced soon.

Amanda and the staff at Natural Bridge would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support, including Double Nickel Race Cars, Witt Mechanical, Cecil B Arthur, BHR 55 Fabrication, MPM Marketing, Austin Electrical Construction, Bank of Botetourt, C & S Disposal, Coffey Excavating and Septic, W.R. "I wish there was an answer, but this decision wasn't made easy. I am very sorry to have to make this decision", commented Virginia Motor Speedway President and Owner Bill Sawyer.
